Tactics and Results Week 1
Hull v WBA
Sunderland v Bournemouth
- Hull Tactics:
- Jakupovic
Henrichs---Davies---Curtis---Robertson
Mason---Kimmich
Snodgrass---Pulisic---Mor
Silva
Subs: Henriksen, Isak, Tymon, Mbokani, Lenihan, Diomandi, McGregor
Opening game v the co-managers and with their teams injuries they're restricted to an elderly CB pairing, therefore we want to play a high pressure game on them, niggle them early on and keep them encamped in their own half. Fast one touch football, pass and move having them chase shadows. Silva to poach, drift offside to keep their defence deep giving space to Pulisic who's given remit to shoot from distance.
Our defenders keep it simple, isolate the striker and force wingers onto bad foot. Midfield pairing to spread the ball out quickly to the wing men. Double up on the wings both offensively and defensively.
Set pieces: Pulisic
Subs: Isak & Henriksen for Silva & Mason 75m
- WBA Tactics:
- ----------------------------------------Foster--------------------------------
McLean-------------Olsson--------------Mcauley---------------Brunt
----------------------------Weigl----------------Gardner-----------------
McManaman-------------------------------------------------------------Chadli
---------------------------Berahino---------------Rondon-------------------
Subs - Myhill, Dawson, Morrison, Phillips
GAMEPLAN
Play counter attacking football, soak up pressure and hit oppo on counter
DEFENCE
Reliable keeper in goal. Defence sit deep to stop oppo pacy players getting in behind them. Fullbacks not attack too much but as game goes on want them to make overlapping runs and get crosses into the box.
Centre Midfield
Weigl will be deep lying playmaker and bridge the defence to attack. Has a very good range of passing and will look to carve open oppo defence. Gardner main role is defend and cut passing lanes and close down attackers.
Wingers
Chadli and McManaman bring pace and precision dribbling to team. Get to byline and whip in crosses for strikers to finish.
Strikers
Playing two upfront, both very strong pacy forwards. Want them to be aware of crosses into the box and use their physical presence to win aerial duels.
Subs 70mins - Matt Phillips on for McManaman
Morrison on for Gardner
Sunderland v Bournemouth
- Sunderland Tactics:
- -------------------------Pickford-------------------------

TACTICS (150 words)
First game of the season, and at home. We have a lot of pace in our side both in defense and attack. Looking to play quick with plenty of width, Lingard and Khazri starting in wide positions and cutting inside, and Redmond looking for space across the final third, drift wide, get in behind, drop deep. I want to see variety. Kirchhoff to drop deep and be right in front of the centre backs. Defensively we have pace in our team to deal with their attackers, match them, don't let Iwobi/Ibe cut inside. I'd rather we hold positions and be solid defensively than chase and man-mark, containing rather than pressing.
If winning - Cattermole for Khazri, move to a 4-3-3 with the extra midfielder to close out the game.
If losing - Januzaj and Borini for Kirchhoff and Khazri, play centre and left midfield but more attacking than their predecessors.
- Bournemouth Tactics:
- ---------------Boruc
Francis -- Cook -- Naldo --- Daniels
--------- Wilshere --- Arter
Iwobi -------Zlatan ------Ben Yedder
---------------Jorgensen
Bench - Ake,Smith,Cook,Surman,Ibe,Stanislas,Wilson
Defense to sit deep negating pace
Naldo to get on Defoe mark tightly
Cook to use pace to cover
Wilshere & Arter to control from deep and get around the pitch to create space
Full backs to tuck inside to force down the line
Full backs to get up the pitch and overlap for crosses
Iwobi & Ben Yedder to cut in and create giving Full back to overlap
Zlatan to drift in the gap and create chances or shoot from distance has free reign
Jorgensen use your pace to brutalize the slow defenders and get the run on defenders for crosses

- Miky:
- Hull City v WBA – Hull win
I can see the young energy within the Hull City team causing problems for WBA here. I just think they have too much to offer in terms of pace but I can see Olsson and Mcauley struggling to deal with it. The quick movement of the ball that Hero has gone for within his tactics will also add to this.
Sunderland v Bournemouth – Bournemouth win
I like the way Trebs has opted to bolster his defence straight off the bat however I can see Zlatan causing Sunderland problems throughout the game, dropping off could potentially be dangerous meaning Sunderland would have to change their ways unless they wanted to keep allowing pressure from Bournemouth.
- Afro:
- WBA - WBA win
Good tactics from Hero and you can already see the impact he will have. But I was surpiried by WBA. I like the front 6 and the counter attacking tactics would work well for me, countering Hulls fast players and high pressure game.
Sunderland v Bournemouth - Bournemouth win.
Was a difficult game to call, and in the end the deciding factor was that I felt Nando's tactics would have worked better at blunting the Sunderland tactics than vice versa.
- BamBam:
- Hull win
Think the WBA defence is just too slow to cope with the pace and movement of the Hull front 4. I'd fancy Rondon/Berahino to nick a goal or two as the Hull defence are no great shakes either, but Hull's strength going forward is the difference here
Bournemouth win
Really tough to call this. Normally would call this a draw, I reckon Sunderland's defence is solid as any in the league at this stage, but even this version of Zlatan is a bit too strong with the pace around him. Not sure on playing him as the number 10, but Bournemouth have enough in midfield to supply the front 4, and I can see goals for both sides, with Bournemouth edging it

No scores Miky
It's Hull win with +1 GD
And Bournemouth win with +2 GD
Table should looks something like
Team Played. Wins. GD.
Bournemouth 1 1 +2
Hull 1 1 +1
Watford, Burnley, Boro
WBA 1 0 -1
Sunderland 1 0 -1
It's Hull win with +1 GD
And Bournemouth win with +2 GD

Bournemouth 1 1 +2
Hull 1 1 +1
Watford, Burnley, Boro
WBA 1 0 -1
Sunderland 1 0 -1

Re: Tactics and Results Week 1
Oh okay sorry, it said unanimous win in the rules = +2 so I thought it would be the score line.

Re: Tactics and Results Week 1
It does, but it wasn't a unanimous win. It was 2 votes to 1

No worries.
It's a different approach to results and the table, so
Just making sure we get it right from the off

Have to say when I saw Nadz had gone for a counter attack set up I was panicking somewhat so I fully agree with Afro's comments.

Re: Tactics and Results Week 1
Ideal tactics to counter a fast team who pressurise. Sit back and counter into the spaces created by the pressurising high up the field.
Thought it was a masterstroke, so you did well to come away with the win.
