Tactics & Results Week 2
Hull
------------------Marshall------------------
Henrichs---Dawson---Curtis---Robertson
--------------Keita---Kimmich-------------
Pulisic-------------Henriksen-----------Mor
-------------------Silva--------------------
Subs: Tymon, Mbokani, Lenihan, Diomandi, McGregor
This week against Miky we're looking to play a containing game focusing on possession, stretching them & draining the opponent's fitness. The midfield 5 all are comfortable on the ball so spread side to side, probing away with patience. Silva to sit between the CBs, dropping offside to force them back. FBs to double up when opportunity arises but DMs cover. Zonal marking at the back, don't be dragged out of position. Balls to feet, pass and move, let them chase shadows, don't be caught over-stretching.
If we're losing at 70m then having played a sapping game we can up the tempo, take Henriksen off for Diomande and go 2 up top.
vs
Watford
---------------Gomes---------------
Janmaat--Prodl--Rudiger--Kenedy
-----------Tolisso--Motta-----------
Pereyra------Deeney-----Amrabat
---------------Ighalo----------------
Energetic Hull team who will be looking to get on the ball a lot, don't be afraid to sit off at times but we can't get stuck under too much pressure.
Pereyra and Amrabat to tuck in at times pressurising the Hull centre backs who are good but could struggle if we pressure that area.
Deeney to push on in support of Ighalo almost working as a second striker.
Tolisso to feed the ball into the dangerous areas pulling strings from deep.
Motta to operate just ahead of the back 4 as a guard.
Kenedy and Janmaat to push on looking for the overlap making sure to get back in support.
Rudiger to watch the runs of Silva and Pulisic with Prodl on the cover.
Defensive line to keep shape and organised.
Subs: Cathcart, Britos, Capoue, Behrami, Success, Okaka, Sinclair.
80th - Capoue on for Motta
85th - Okaka on for Ighalo
------------
Burnley
Heaton
Klostermann---Orban---Keane---Ward
Defour----Hendrick
Malli
Bernardeschi---------------------Gray
Vokes
Subs: Robinson, O’Shea, Flanagan, Huddlestone, Boyd, Bamford, Pienaar
Tactics:
Orban pick up main striker, Keane pick up second striker or play spare if only one up front
Full backs to pick up wingers – sit tight and keep them wide
Ward to stay and make back three when attacking
Klostermann bombs on overlapping winger.
Defour sit back, protect back four and act as the link between attack and defence
Hendrick box to box.
Malli playmaker, getting in support of, and beyond Vokes
Bernardeschi attack LB (targeted weakness), coming inside creating space for Klostermann
Gray to attack full back, turn him inside out
Vokes – target man. On the end of crosses, hold up the ball and bring support players into play.
Substitution –
Winning on 65mins, Huddlestone for Hendrick – hold on to possession
Losing on 65mins – Bamford for Malli – go 4-4-2
vs
Middlesbrough
----------------------Valdes
Barragan------Ayala------Chiellini------Friend
-------------Rabiot--------De Roon
Dembele-----------------------------Traore
------------Rashford
-------------------------Negredo
Subs - Guzan, Espinosa, Nsue, Fosu-Mensah, Downing, Ramirez, Fischer
Looking to sit deep to prevent Gray getting in behind us, then launch lightning counter attacks with pace of Dembele/Traore/Rashford
Valdes - save goals, get the ball quickly to the front 4 if counter is on
Chiellini to man mark the main striker and marshall our defence, Ayala cover
FBs able to go forward one at a time, but primarily defend
CMs to protect the defence, get the ball into the front 4 asap, especially Rabiot with his passing range
Traore/Dembele help out in defence, as soon as we get the ball get forward and run at their defence, we think their left back can be targeted with Dembele
Rashford to play as second striker, but drop off onto Thudd/Defour to not give whoever their deepest midfielder is time on the ball. Run off Negredo with the ball, go beyond him for balls in behind, switch on to the wings to mix it up
Negredo - lead the line, hold the ball up and bring the 3 youngsters into the game

Re: Tactics & Results Week 2
- Voter 1:
- Hull vs Watford
I wouldn't be looking to play with patience with the Hull attackers, the front three are all quick. It's all good to say zonal marking at the back but for me Hull have to do more to think about their opponent's threats. Watford have a decent side but I think that Pereyra should be in the middle, that Capoue should be starting and Deeney needs to be properly upfront with Ighalo, if anything play Ighalo wide and Deeney upfront. The diamond could work well for them.
I will go with a Hull win, just.
Burnley vs Middlesbrough
I think Burnley have made a mistake in calling George Friend a weakness, I'd be more inclined to go against Ayala or Barragan if you want to do that. Middlesbrough attacked Ward with Dembele and he had a field day, but Rashford for me was used incorrectly. For me, either play him wide or as the main striker, not the second striker. Middlesbrough have a better attack, but I like the balance to the Burnley midfield.
Middlesbrough win.
- Voter 2:
- Hull vs Watford
Hull WIN
A tight contest which would have ended as a draw if we were in the old league but hey ho gots to choose a winner. Think hulls possession tactics would have tired Watfords centre mid pairing and I would have personally played Capoue over Motta.
Burnley vs Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough WIN
I really like Burnleys formation and with better players they could have got summat out of this game. Think the pace of rash and dembele would be too much for boro but I see good signs from Burnley
- Voter 3:
- Hull vs Watford - Watford win
Whilst i like the Hull midfield not sure it's as good as Watford's Tolisso & Motta could be a very good combo plus Michael Dawson is awful
Burnley vs Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough win
Burnley errored in playing Andre Gray out wide. Personally would of put Pienaar/Boyd there. He would of been better up top against slow defenders. Middlesbrough if going to play to play Rashford he's up top really, Negredo would be a fine 2nd striker like he was behind Aguero at Citeh. It's just goal threat that separates them really. Bernardeschi is quality though
Scores - Hull 1-0 Watford, Burnley 0-2 Middlesbrough

Re: Tactics & Results Week 2
Thanks Nando, who were the voters for each? Is it in order of the fixture list?

Ok understandable, cheers.
I just find it quite interesting to know who's dissing my team, just kidding.

Re: Tactics & Results Week 2
Thanks Nando.
Good feedback, plenty of food for thought. Don’t disagree with any of it tbh. My mistake on my tactics as I meant to target both full backs, hence Andre Gray on the wing, but when I read what I wrote, it clearly looks like I am just targeting the LB
Well played Bam

I think the score should be Burnley 1 Middlesbrough 0 if we're taking in account bambino's goal deduction.

Are you sure a 4 goal deduction would be enough? I think I should also have to sacrifice Dembele and Rashford to the gods

A public castration will suffice for them
