Stade turn down Wallaby release request for Genia
Will Genia has reportedly been denied leave by Stade Francais for the Wallabies' clash with Wales.
The Daily Telegraph report the French club won't release Genia for the opening game of their northern hemisphere tour, which is against Wales at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday (NZ time).
The 28-year-old halfback made his first appearance for Stade since January at the weekend, as they beat Lyon 25-19 in Paris.
Genia has spent most of the season with the Wallabies throughout their Rugby Championship campaign.

I dost titter and giggle.
These PRL Frenchies are a right bunch. Hire a man because he's an International Rugby God, then moan that he wants to play a bit of International.
Next thing we'll be hearing that Wray'n'Boudjellal have never ever watched any International rugby game - on PRINCIPLE - and only ever designate some nameless underling from Sector 7G to keep an eye on player performances at International level. They ain't in'trested in International Prima Donna players, them lads - they only like the hard working lowly Club bullocks that they fill their teams with.
Catch 22 folks. If'n International class players are impededed from playing International - coz it upsets the delicate stomachs of the Spectre boys - then where do they Spectre boys get their juicy ideas about which International stars to buy?

There would be an uproar if this was an English club refusing access to a WRU or SRU player!.........Oh wait!

These arguments always just make me wish even more that there was less international rugby. These constant squabbles just add even more to the exhaustion of it for fans.
Have 3 autumn internationals per side. Tier 1 and 2 sides should play one of those 3 games against a lower tier or developing rugby nation.
It would make match-ups between the top sides from either hemispheres rarer and more anticipated event. Fewer internationals would also mean less player burnout, less injuries and a higher quality of rugby in the games played.

I'm sure that Dowlais would be here to comment, but he's gone to the Rapture after the PRL invoked the Apocalypse.propdavid_london wrote:There would be an uproar if this was an English club refusing access to a WRU or SRU player!.........Oh wait!

It's outside the window so stiff titties to Genia. Australia are shooting themselves in the foot with this 60 test rule.

Indeed. If only everyone just respected the test window.ebop wrote:It's outside the window so stiff titties to Genia. Australia are shooting themselves in the foot with this 60 test rule.

A window...any window...is just there for putting folks through when you're in a bad mood. Jesus, guys, come on, live a little. Put someone through a window today...it's an enriching experience. No respect for windows!

There is nothing to debate here, it's not as if they are stopping him being released for an international window is it ? Now remind me, who has made those threats ?

June and November windows start on the second weekend of each month.
That caused a problem in 2014, when NZ inexplicably decided to nominate the first Saturday of June as the second weekend, ensuring understrength tourists, since it overlapped with the end of the domestic season in the north.
That calendar quirk (1st June being a Sunday) won't happen again until 2025, by which time you'd imagine our fixture lists will look very different.

Thanks whocares.
So that's a lot of teams playing outside the window then. England, Japan, Argentina, Wales, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland.
Cyril, I agree. I wish these nations would respect the window. That's a lot. As I mentioned before I genuinely thought it was only Wales who played outside it (plus the team they are playing). Naughty.

The Defenestration of Prague was always one of my favourite historical events.
Going to start a war that will put Europe through hell for thirty years or so? Don't mess about with bits of paper and Declarations - put somebody out of a third floor window! Now that's STYLE!
