Stade Francais release 3 players
Stade Francais confirm James Haskell is leaving club, along with Ollie Phillips and Hugo Southwel
I will post more details as I get it.

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
Haskell will be a superb signing for whoever gets him. I see London Irish are looking to snap him up. Hugo Southwell to Munster!!!

I can see Haskell at Bath

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
I'm not sure how well Shuggie would fit in at Munster Stag, he fit in well at Stade because they had a massive ammount of attacking flair everywhere else in the back division to make up for Shuggie's conservative nature at full back. He kind of steadied the Stade ship if that makes sense.
I'm not 100% convinced Shuggie would be all that effective at Munster, because Southwell is not an attacking full back by any means, he is decent in Broken play and normally has a very hefty hoof from hand, but I don;t think his style will benefit Munster.

Rugger, its more than we need someone who can cover 13 and 15. He fits the bill
Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
Stag,
I would not be happy at all if we signed Southwell. Nowhere near the calibre of player we should be looking at.
Rumours are that Haskell is looking to move to Australia with the likelihood it will be the Rebels.

Irish are definitely in for Haskell having missed out on Fourie from Leeds. Would be massive for us, and we definitely need an abrasive ball carrier having lost Steffon to Toulon nad george to the Ospreys.

You want "FFS" Southwell to play for your team?
I'd imagine both will have the problem that they've been on inflated wages, beyond what their actual ability justifies - both are going to have to take a big drop in money to get a new team. I can see Bath going for Brand Hask, since they're desperate for big name signings.

MBTGOG - thought my exclamation marks and smileys would convey sarcasm. Especially given my remarks earleir how I'd take any available centres at the minute,.
Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
At a press conference on Tuesday, recently appointed Stade Francais administrator, Bernard Laporte, confirmed that Arnaud Marchois, Ollie Phillips, Hugo Southwell, Noel Oelschig, Juan Leguizamon and Mauro Bergamasco would all be leaving the Parisian club.
The former France coach also confirmed the arrival of former England wing Paul Sackey, Pumas fly-half Felipe Contepomi and former France front rower Olivier Milloud, Racing-Métro scrum-half Jérôme Fillol, Leinster prop Stan Wright, former Wallaby centre Morgan Turinui and Samoan full-back Paul Williams.
Former All Blacks scrum-half Byron Kelleher is expected to sign this week.
Laporte however made it clear that Mathieu Bastareaud would be staying, despite the France centre openly declaring his desire to move to RC Toulon.

So, Palmer is staying then! Thats a shame, would have liked him to come to Quins.
Palmer and Robson would be a good combo.

Southwell may be a decent option for the Ospreys, and probably a sight cheaper than buying in a retirement funder from NZ

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
To be honest Ive always thought Haskell has been very overrated, he is not popular amongst Stade Francais fans , not because hes leaving, simply because he was always very ordinary for them, probably why they arent fussed on him....
I think a club will end up giving him a massive salary only for him to under perform again.

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
Haskell wants to stay in France;apparently ASM are interested.
Leguizamon is moving to Lyon,Phillips will probably be at Brive( depending on the gravity of his knee problem),Bergamasco is returning to Italy.
They have signed Francisco Tetaz Chaparro (Pampas),and Kelleher will be announced tomorrow, after the medical examin ation.

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
If Southwell would be willing to take a pay cut, he could move back to Scotland. Glasgow in particular could use his services.
Not a bad club player Hugo, and he put in some good performances for Stade. Perhaps short on international class, but he's a solid player. Anyone needing a safe pair of hands at 15 should consider him.

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
Will Haskell be looking to move back to England, or will he risk his England career to either stay in France or indeed move to the Rebels? It could open the door for Chris Robshaw or an out-and-out number 8 to move into the squad to back up Easter.
If Palmer is indeed staying with Stade in France, then he'll be risking his England career too. With Shaw getting on and rumours that Deacon might retire after the World Cup due to his on-going back problems, we could really do with Palmer in the England squad for a couple more years. A class operator and we could have him in there with Lawes, Attwood and Kitchener post-World Cup.

Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
I think we'll have more than enough coming through to cover not having Palmer...
Interesting to see where Haskell goes...really be surprised if the Rebels link is true...he's only just beginning to perform in the England Shirt so i thought he may want to continue that...

Well I would take Attwood to the World Cup over Simon Shaw, and if the rumours about Deacon aren't true, then we'll have Deacon and Lawes starting, Attwood on the bench and someone like Kitchener in the squad, with players like Robson and Botha covering from the Saxons. But worse case scenario we could lose all three of Deacon, Palmer and Shaw after the World Cup, which might leave us a little light in terms of experience.
Re: Stade Francais release 3 players
Bastareaud is leaving for Toulon-or he'll be playing for the IIIrds

Reading between the lines of what Haskell says here I can see him signing a 1 year deal for one of the Aussie frnachises to play Super Rugby in 2012 and then heading back to England for the 2012/13 season. Realistically he would rule himself out of the 2012 Six Nations and will risk someone coming in and taking his place making it difficult to get back into the national squad, but I suspect that is what he will do.
