The Lobon Brigade
Just a little bit of fun
Over the last few years I have noticed that commentators spend almost every game with a Lobon for someone. They talk them up, highlight everything they do well, ignore most of what they do poorly and generally have a Lobon for them - giving much less praise to anyone else on the pitch (regardless of form)
So with the matches coming up this weekend - who do you predict will get the full Lobon in your games (this is not to say they do not play well - just the get the twinkle in the eye of the commentators)
For me and Glasgow......
Hogg (closely followed by Gray)
Remember, just for fun

Generally Sexton seems to be focussed on a lot, especially at international level.
I am not saying he's overrated, just commentators love him.
As for Saracens obviously Itoje and Farrell as Bambam says.

Of course though, it is simple human nature. It's a gladiatorial contest and all the ancient battles, and even some present day ones, have the charismatic, talismanic individual that take the troops over the hill and give the troops confidence simply by being around.

Re: The Lobon Brigade
O'Brien seems to get commentators excited (Stuart Barnes especially) but he seems a luxury player to me. Spends most of his time squealing at the ref these days.
He was decent back in 2013 though.

I do, a bit.Rory_Gallagher wrote:You have a strange obsession with O'Brien and his rather high-pitched voice.
Seeking help.
It's a similar situation with Jonathan Davies. It's not just me though. Dogs, bats and other creatures find it off-putting.

Re: The Lobon Brigade
It's the lack of Performance Enhancing Drugs that does it Cyril. Oh I could name a name.... a lovely juicy name.... a very famous name...that for my mind without a doubt was on the same stuff the WWF guys are on.
It's all in the voice.....

I'd heard the rumours, but I've never heard it blatantly said that he was a juicer. Sources pleaseSecretFly wrote:It's the lack of Performance Enhancing Drugs that does it Cyril. What's the difference between a chickpea and a lentil?
I wouldn't pay $1000 to have a lentil on my face
Sorry if that offends your politics, fly.

I'm trying to think of a Meryl Streep film I like, but I'm now (for the first time ever) thinking that's a weird name.SecretFly wrote:

Re: The Lobon Brigade
Back on topic - A couple of major ones:
Jiffy's undying man-love for Dan Lydiate
Every commentator's lobon for Parisse - Was a great player but is now not as good as the media guys make out.
Oh, and the All Blacks generally.
