Please add your score predictions for this weekend's three games onto the end of this thread.
The rules are as follows:-
- Spoiler:
- 1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games. All predictions must be made before the start of the games.
2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome.
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded with double points. So if the correctly predict a match's score you will receive a maximum 80 points.
Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 Wales
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 Wales
Your score 32 points
You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting Wales to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting Wales' score spot on.
The next round of fixtures are:-
Saturday 18th March
Scotland v Italy
France v Wales
Ireland v England

Re: Six Nations Competition - Week 5
No, not assuming any home wins at all. with most concern lying where we give away penalties which end up gifting points to the Lions.
In terms of combinations, the most influential combination to me this series will be the loose forwards, and I will be looking very closely this weekend at all four British and Irish loosies (Italy and France playing separately) and trying to balance that off against where our players are up to at this stage.
Meanwhile we have Kieren Read who hasnt played this year yet, we have this weekend in the Chiefs v Hurricanes game Sam Cane up against Arty Savea, two number sevens that bring completely different openside attributes. Keino has been on fire however June is a long way away.
I dont think I will be the only Kiwi watching this weekend trying to be in the mind of Warren Gatland.
Maybe going out on a limb here, but no matter who Gatland or Hansen put out as front and second row combinations each will balance each other out by quite safely winning their own ball, apart from at kick offs. but I strongly suspect that B&I forwards who are in teams that are winning that set piece ball and go onto scoring points from that same possession will get first favour from Gatty.

As a Pack? to me a little underpowered. As individuals fine as all are good International test players but together not quite as threatening.

True, Cane is often underestimated for his defensive contribution, meanwhile Savea offers so much more in attack than even McCaw did. What I personally prefer is start the game with Cane, run his tank empty then bring Savea on as impact. Its probably a bit too soon to be getting into those lines of thought.

Not sure why this 6 Nations thread has turned lions but hey ho
You guys bit pretty quick, thats what the ABs have over any mighty power pack you can put out. They will outthink their opposition. Rugby isn't just about power, its about skill and smarts and that pack lacks experience.

Cut that out Gwlad, dont go bringing in distractions like experience into the mix. Only problem is Gatty, and for that matter Jones, Cotter and Schmidt probably agree with you.

Hmmm. Most people got Scotland scoring about 21 points. That was very good guessing. Nobody got England scoring 61 points though. That was very poor knowledge of England's ability. Ha, ha.
