Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
First topic message reminder :
They're one of about 8 teams to hold that tag - and lets face it it's measured in yards...in points the #1 D was the Pats.
No great defences out there this year, just a lot of pretty good ones. If they had Watt, maybe they'd be great...but they don't
Pr4wn wrote:Good Golly I'm Olly wrote:Pr4wn wrote:Love this Texans D. They're amazing without Watt. Scary.
Amazing is a bit far - they're pretty good, nothing special.
Number one D in the NFL without their best player.

Jets have traded Bridgewater to the Saints. Goes from maybe the placeholder for Darnold to maybe the heir to Brees.

A 3rd round pick for a player signed off the trash pile 6 months ago.

Gonna need the Jets to draft a WR who has 20 career catches with that third rounder to restore some form of balance to the world

Browns have cut Mychal Kendricks, who may be heading to prison for insider trading. If only he'd been around Carl Nassib sooner...

I still chuckle when I hear people start complaining about sports stars salaries. 1) its a short career in almost every sport, 2) football is dangerous to every players long term health, 3) its only the best that get this kind of money and biggest of all, 4) its still nothing compared to what the billionaire team owners are making.

Reports that raiders are trading mack to Chicago
Can't wait to see Reggie p!ss away the draft picks he gets in return for him
Trading one of the few picks he's actually got right

Gruden apparently wasn't too keen on the idea of giving Mack a big new deal, and the Bears have a QB on a rookie deal. So you can see how it makes sense, but how many players that good come out of any draft?

Two first round picks apparently, which are worthless in the hands of Reggie who'll likely blow them on a player he could've got a round later and won't be on the roster 2-3 seasons later after turning out to be constantly injured or just plain trash

Today in RaiderNation
Trade away one of a few draft picks that Reggie actually scored on for future draft picks that he'll no doubt waste
Sign AJ McCarron because we haven't already got enough trash back up for Carr in Cook and Manuel
Forced to cut Bryant due to likely suspension after giving away a third round pick for him in this year's draft

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I've calmed down a bit since yesterday and having seen the numbers mack is getting from Chicago it just wasn't feasible for the Raiders to go there. I know he's one of those players that doesn't come along very often, but our defense was trash with him in it, all we'd have been doing would be making it harder for ourselves to get that right for the foreseeable, we'd end up being in the cap hell we were in under the last days of Davis
That's not to say I'm happy I'm at the prospect of Reggie having more picks at his disposal going forward as he's not been anywhere near good enough in drafts

Buffalo have zero first downs in a half of football. 33 yards. Good luck Josh Allen.

One game snap reactions and thoughts:
-Vikings look like serious contenders
-Looking forward to another season of Big XII football from the Saints
-Chuck the Bills going with Peterman over Taylor and thinking he could let them ease in Allen in the 'NFL teams employ idiots too' file
-Steelers are going to implode this year

Bears choked - Nagy absolutely bottled it, you have 3rd and 1 - you need 1 yard to win the game, you throw a crappy play and then kick a FG and give the ball back to Aaron Rodgers? What are you even doing??? You have one of the better RBs in the NFL, especially in short yardage - run it twice, heck even QB sneak it twice - it's a yard!!

I so like that it's Monday after week 1 and there's nobody sniping at the Skins. Got to be honest, I had an eyebrow raised when they signed AP, but after yesterday I'm a believer!
Plus Cowboys could be in for a long season. They were ugly against the Panthers. About Browns/Steelers ugly, but not Bills ugly. Bills defined a new kind of ugly.

I'm on the horns of a dilemma in another FFL league. Swap Deshaun Watson for Andy Dalton. The former could well be in sophomore slump territory and the latter has a habit of choking. With Big Ben as my main QB (hopefully he decides to throw to his own players this week), can I afford the luxury of chancing Dalton continues his early season form?

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I would go with Dalton - he's in a much much better situation - improved OL, very good weapons at WR/TE/RB. Watson has the worst OL in the league and DeAndre Hopkins basically - and looked very very tentative behind that OL on Sunday, against a pretty average pass rush.

While everyone's making fun of the Bills and Lions, the Cardinals may sneakily be the worst team in the league.

What's the condition? He manages to go more than 1/2 a season without a suspension?
Apparently the Skins were in the mix. Phew, bad as we were Sunday, glad we missed on that one.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Conditions is if he isn’t on the active roster after 10 games the Pats get a 7th rounder back - so they’ve basically dropped 60 or so spots in the back end of the draft to have a punt on a formerly great talent. Worth a punt, because he’s not taking anybody good’s roster spot but I can’t see if working either. But if that 5% chance that he does recapture his 2013 form comes off, then wow...
