Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (Fluxy) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1994.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made by sending a PM to the RFU (Fluxy) and it will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

Open Bidding
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. £2m for 5 games, £1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Cheers pooly. Currently sat on a welsh mountain with cheese, bread and a nice bottle of cider!
Don't worry about a present for me lads, just predict a win for Worcester!!
Falcons building really well. Think Glos missed a trick not grabbing Richards when he was available a few years ago.

Guys I am going to be working in Australia for a 2-3 weeks from next weekend, the area I'm staying is very likely not to have wifi so if anyone could take care of Saints, do the foreign window transfer for me that would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
First time I've seen Malinder play 12 in the Ap against us today and I can now see why he doesnt get many starts.
His defence is all over the place, we took him on at will. Stripped in contact numerous times and threw around like rag doll by Goneva.
I know the boy gets a lot of hype (hes got a great pass of either hand) but hes a long way off any meaniful level of rugby.
Saints were bloody awful bar Pisi and another islander.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
Erm, Mallinder has started nearly every game for Saints at no12 this season when he hasn't been injured. Had an injury first few weeks and then was out for 2 months. So not sure you are quite right there, certainly must have started last 6 games. His form has floated around all season, but not surprising for a 19 year old there right now.
Saints have been awful this season, they need a massive shake up, whilst all the other top teams have been recruiting big they've only gone with Picamoles (one of the best players in the AP this season) but desperately need new half backs and no13, only Lawes has really been any good in the pack for them as well.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
Mallinder has started 6 games at 12, 1 at 10 and has benched 4 times. He's played the last group of games at 12 which I didn't realise, which bumps him up. Every time I've seen Saints he's been on the bench.
I was in shock how bad his defence was tbh, he's such a unit too. I know it's early days on him but is he next Twelvetrees? He's 21 in June, not 19. He's certainly got some impressive attributes though, just looks at sea in that backline.
I can't believe we scored 7 tries against them, we ripped them to bits. 1pt off 6th place!

Harry Mallinder = the new Elliot Daly or Joe Simpson? This will be fun for the next 12-18 months, something for us all to look forward to
Wasps defence was awful yesterday, whenever we have Cipriani and Eastmond in there together we struggle. Denny Solomana looks an absolutely brilliant signing for Sale, could be very interesting when he gets EQ qualified next season. He destroyed us.

Debate the point not the poster...
Mallinder has stacks of potential but performances aren't there yet. Has all the advantages to be the perfect 12 but then as Pooly said so did Twelvetrees.
Solomona looks a cracking pick up for Bam. Is he not already EQ? Thought he started super league in Jan 14 so the 3 years is up now for him?

I can't find anywhere that definitely says when he'll be EQ, different sources say anything from now till the end of the season, happy to take guidance as to when I can count him as EQ!
Looking forward to rolling out a back 3 of Solomona, Piutau and Smith

Wiki has him down as starting in England Jan 14 so would qualify Jan 17 under current rules. Fluxy might confirm if he's happy to accept him as EQ.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
Mallinder has played in every game for Saints when he has been fit to play this season, he came back against Wasps after picking up an early injury, then played for them apart from maybe the Quins game at no12 until he picked up that nasty injury in November that ruled him out.
He then came back into the team gradually and has played the last 6 games for them at no12. So that would suggest there are other reasons to him not starting games as opposed to his poor defence, namely injury.
Defensively he's odd as can be very good and physical, as he's massive - personally think they are trying to work out his best position as he's played all over the backline - he looks like a no12, but a youngster is never going to shine playing in what must be one of the worst backlines in terms of form that is around in the AP right now. Haven't seen a team lacking that much confidence.
Lot of the coaching setup there want to build the team around him and a guy called Lewis Ludlum, who you might have SJE, they opted to not try and keep Clark because they see next year as Ludlum's breakthrough and he looks excellent. Also have a good Scottish 10/12 Rory Hutchinson who could break through.

Chris, try and join the discussion rather than just complaining constantly. It's a forum end of the day, we discuss rugby players.
I thought Mallinder was relevant as he gets a stack of hype on the main boards with this "Prince Harry" label and it was the first time I really watched him at 12 for a full game. As I mentioned, it's reminding me very much of the Twelvetrees situation a few years ago when he burst on the scene, I don't think that's particularly surprising with the similarities between the two players.
Solomona has to be EQ or he can't be signing via domestics/releases. He came to England in Jan '14.
Ask Flux, I tried to sign him for a month!

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
He hasn't played every game as he was available for as he was on the bench for 3 games straight and then started 3, anyway.....
I'd disagree Mallinder was physical, he's big but doesn't look physically strong. He was stripped on more than one occasion yesterday by our scrum half and got thrown and bumped on numerous times.
His distribution is quite sublime at times though and he has a very good boot.
Hopefully he'll grow into his body a bit and learn how to defend, he is a unit.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
If you say so mate, just always seems to be a debate on one of mine or Mat's players lol. I agree in part of what you are saying, but not sure how you base a lot of opinion on one game or state that he doesnt play because of his defence as the guy was injured and has played in all games when he's been fully fit e.g. they bring him back from injury by putting him on the bench and getting him fully match fit.
Twelvetrees suffered as they never really settled on that one position for him, had the feeling that with a back under Cockerill at Leicester you were never really going to develop properly and was thrusted into the limelight with that game against Ospreys in the Heineken Cup years and years ago.
Just seems so important to get these youngsters proper game time, which is why I think Saints handle Mallinder very well, in that they have chosen to stick with him at no12 and give him game time. He does make some howlers though!

Diamond said Solomona is EQ in about 4 weeks time.
Fissler tweeted on Saturday about how good Wasps backline was. I replied saying how weak defensively it was, looked like I was proved right!

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
Nick, massively right with Wasps backline. As soon as you take Daly out we lose our defensive leader there, he organises it and is amazing how we just get run ragged without that. Cipriani had a stinker and Robson's form has dropped right off, he scores some great tries but it is masking over the rest of his game and we look so much more structured with Simpson.
Le Roux looked blooming good though. Amazing how much these top, top class players bring to the AP, always have so much more time on the ball, Schalk Burger is another one who is great to watch. At the same time it shows how much quicker international rugby is as they don't get to use half the skills they do in the AP games.

Not sure Daly would have completely solved the issue though Chris. he may have helped but it's the Cipriani/Eastmond axis which can be got at and then with Wade and Bassett being quite weak as well. Gopperth no 13 either.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
It is certainly an issue Nick when they put out a backline that they did. What I meant was that Daly is a very good communicator in defence and gets our line in place properly, whilst at the moment it is all over the place and it is in open play where we are really struggling.
Our backline is great going forwards, but we only really have AJ in the pack at the moment who offers us any physicality, think we lack a Jim Hamilton sort of enforcer player.

How are Irish doing in the Championship Nick? Be great to have you guys back in the AP - be interested to find out how that young England u20 winger you have is going? Think SJE has him in this game, but won't attempt to spell his name! A year in the Championship could work wonders for his development.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
I've been really impressed with Daly but he's not exactly the guy to come in and solve a backlines defence. Cips, Eastmond, Daly is a big runners dream really although they could rip a team to bits with pace and movement.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
Pooly, Wasps is our defensive captain for a reason. Isn't just about making tackles but communicated and organising the type of defence, line speed etc. His defensive work has gone up massively this season. Look at the Toulon games last season, did their big runners tear us to pieces, when we played Toulouse a few weeks ago we didnt have an issue there either. Cips and Eastmond always going to be issues, but Daly is a far, far better defender than you give him credit for, otherwise he would be being picked by Jones.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
Don't think Daly is a weakness in defence but it is probably his weakest attribute as he is a great kicker, runner and decent passer.
We are dominating the championship Chris, 14 from 14 and I think only 2 of those haven't been BP wins. it will be a travesty if we don't win the playoffs. bearing in mind we have the likes of Franks, Cowan, Marshall in the side, we should walk it. The new coaching set up of Kennedy, Skivington, Danaher, Hodgson (being guided by Venter) is working well.
Recruitment for next season is going well too. Hamilton, Du Plessis, Faingaa, Schatz, Meehan all signed up so far. Johhny Williams and Cokanasiga should be able to play at AP level and Tom Parton looks like a youngster who will be good in future.

I can't agree on Daly's defence Chris, he has a real problem with direct runners. Perhaps why wing or FB is better for him as he's out of the limelight a bit.
I'm not sure I can believe he's defensive captain either tbh although if you had to chose between him and Eastmond

Defensive captain - he's our backline on:
"Yet what really stood out was Daly’s defensive contribution. His booming left boot and searing turn of pace were already known to most observers. Here he proved that he had the grit to go with the gas.
Twice he foiled French attacks when he hauled down Nakaitaci and Scott Spedding, both considerably bigger men, in full flight. Miss either tackle and the game changes completely. There’s a good reason he is one of Wasps’ defensive captains."

Also, link for you to the Northampton Saints site so you can see all the games that Mallinder has played at no12 this season.

Haha. Don't know what has happened to Eastmond this season, think he's at the wrong club as very talented player but he needs to control the attack and just hasn't clicked so far. Super talented player, could imagine him being a great player for Sarries to use coming off the bench for last 20 minutes, would add some proper impact.

Re: Season 9 Homepage I
I've posted up the details on Mallinder already Chris. 4 bench spots, 6 starts at 12. I'm not been funny but that hardly backs up any point on you saying he starts EVERY game available at 12. Even the Saints fans have commented on it as they were complaining of his lack of game time.
The links also say "one of Wasps defensive captains", that's not surprising in a backline of Cips, Simpson and Eastmond! It must have been.....erm.....who do we pick here???
His side up tackling is pretty good actually. It's his lack of abilty and size against front up runners, as we seen against Argentina before he got sent off.
Look, it's all opinions end of the day. I've seen nothing to suggest Daly is this defensive linchpin you describe, he has issues there. If he didn't he would have been starting 13 for England for a number of years imo. He has plenty of great attributes but defence just isn't one for me.
