I don't remember watching him much either. But I do remember there was a fair bit of clamor for him to be included in the England squad. The media were making a big thing of it when he played for the Baa Baas (and scored) against England saying that he should have been in the team, look what they are missing etc. So he must have looked good in that position. But as I say, the Baa Baas game is the only one I can remember watching.

Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
I saw LD at a Q&A session last when he was asked what he would change about the England team. He stated:
1. Jamie George to start as hooker with Taylor on the bench.
2. Both Vunipolas to start to improve the ball carrying
3. Farrell to 10 and Ford on the bench (he did not offer his new 12, but thinking T'eo and JJ)
4. Brown to be replaced at 15
Mirrors a lot of what we have all been saying.

LD is a top bloke. Was sat next to him at a dinner event about 3 years ago, really nice guy. Doesn't surprise me that we have similar views.
I wonder why he wants Taylor on the bench?

Really good article by Tom English on the BBC as always
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/39209021
What makes it most interesting is Scotland's backs coach goes into a lot of detail about why we scored the tries that we have. Now you fat arsed hairy forwards might not appreciate it but it makes a good read.
There has been a lot of talk on here about the lunacy of losing Vern Cotter but lets not forget that the entire coaching team (bar our defence coach) is going too - I don't think anyone can argue that Jason O'Halloran in particular has done a good job.

It's this 'Boaty McBoatFace' b***ocks, that the views of the people are genuinely supposed to have some impact outside of elections and (god forbid) referenda.
I was on a Newcastle Metro carriage that had broken down a couple months ago. The driver wouldn't open the doors to let us off onto the tracks, so some idiot starts trying to have a public vote amongst the passengers. You know... because a democratic mandate would protect us from the other trains speeding past at 80 mph (OK, this is the Metro so... 20mph).

Was he your general metro user...charva, trackie with the bottoms tucked in to his socks, playing rave music loud out of his phone, stinking of cigarettes and BO, with summer teeth (some are white, some are black and some are missing)

Yeah, like Vern is going to accept a position if the SRU were to reverse their decision!
"Sure, I'll stick around even though you guys wanted to throw me out the back door despite the improvements I've made to the team. Sure I'll now turn my back on my contract with Montpelier, the money they're going to pay me, the nice house in the warm sunshine in the south of France and I'll stay in the wet, cold, polluted air of Edinburgh."

I suppose if Townsend 'does a Howley' when he takes over then O'Halloran (and Rennie) could always move back to Murrayfield if needed.

The bench is unreal, Scotland will need to have an unassailable lead after 50 minutes to win.

Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
Brown; Nowell, Joseph, Farrell, Daly; Ford, Youngs; Marler, Hartley (captain), Cole, Launchbury, Lawes, Itoje, Haskell, Hughes.
Replacements: George, M Vunipola, Sinckler, Wood, B Vunipola, Care, Te'o, Watson
Good players for sure. However they haven't performed particularly well as a team all tournament. Game on.

It's interesting that the bench players are, almost to a man, better than their equivalents on the pitch.

In a way I'm glad Billy is only on the bench, reeks of desperation had he started.

If we're up by two, can we do four-by-four hit ups for half an hour?

Good to see Watson making his way back in as well. Just a really strong look about this group now.

Given that our bench is likely to be
Dell
Ford
Berghan
Swinson
CDP/Harley
Pyrgos,
Weir
Bennett
it is definitely well and truly advantage England

I'm expecting it to be close all the way though, might have to start chewing my finger nails I've been growing for the Dublin game a week early!

So confident in the England bench I'll be cheering on Scotland first half for my Scotland HT/England FT bet.

I reckon he will name
Marler
Hartley
Cole
Launch
Lawes
Itoje
Haskell
Hughes
Youngs
Ford
Daly
Farrell
Joseph
Nowell
Brown
Mako
George
Sinckler
Wood
Billy
Care
Te'o
Watson
Some serious firepower on that bench.

Is that potentially the strongest bench in world rugby?
