Romania beat Georgia to win 6 Nations B
Well you lot are buggered now, we can't say should Georgia replace Italy, because Romania are actually champions this year.
Both teams played 5, won 4, but Romania won the head to head so are champions.
Belgium and Portugal have a play off apparently.

Luckily I havent' said Georgia should replace Italy, just that Italy should pack their bags.

But we'll have a free weekend then.. Not to mention we need someone other than Wales to win the wooden spoon!

Not a free weekend, but a condensed and balanced tournament. 2 weeks of games, break, 2 more weeks.Shifty wrote:Scottrf wrote:Luckily I havent' said Georgia should replace Italy, just that Italy should pack their bags.

Of course a free weekend, if you have 5 teams, one isn't playing?

What about Holland? A weekend in Amsterdam instead?

I have come to the conclusion that the bottom of 6n should play off with thr top of 6Nb to see which comp each of them should be in. If Italy ( or scotland ) can';t beat Romania / Georgia then should they be in the top teir? It would mean a bit less money all round tho as yo uwould need to have a serious parachute payment for a relegated team but this has an advantage over straight relegation and promotion as it would stop a team getting into the top teir with a huge gulf in class

I would prefer to simply expand the 6 Nations by 2 teams, and have East and West tournaments, with relegation and promotion, and a Grand final in November between the East and West winners. Berlin, Madrid and Amsterdam would be brilliant for the fans.

Italy will get stronger under O'Shea and his very impressive coaching team anyway, so its not going to be an issue for much longer.

So so many utterly pointless thrashings in that set-up. How would this help the NH compete with the SH sides? Some of those sides wouldn't even give the Saxons a game.Shifty wrote:TJ wrote:I have come to the conclusion that the bottom of 6n should play off with thr top of 6Nb to see which comp each of them should be in. If you just want some nice destinations for a weekend away then go for your life, but most of the rugby won't be very enthralling.

We hope, parts of Italys game has improved but some areas went backwards that could be them learning to change their systems or could be poor coaching only time will tell

Add more games to an already crowded schedule?

I just think it will take time...things need a MAJOR overhaul...and they need to learn to play for more than 40mins. But it will come...and O'Shea will scour the world for Italian Aussies, Italian Kiwis, Italian Safas.... etc

I think the problems are mostly at club level and have long said the Pro 12 and its clubs need to do more to improve things in Italy especially the losing culture that exists. Some may say that getting rid is the best way to go but that hurts everyone as it removes a large chunk of income from the Italians at 6N level and the success could actually generate more income for everyone by growing the game there.

The65 nations is the best rugby comp in the world, lets make it better.
Yeah its that easy to go back on contracts and schedules that are already agreed and to forego the money the Italians and AIs bring in, clueless

But only one side in it capable of beating New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and England? Outrageous to think this ragtag contest of self regard and wummery is the best competition in the world. I say burn it and start a new Competition with Georgia A, B, C, D, E and F sides facing off against each other. You all know it's what we all secretly want.

I don't think Spain are really as far away as people think. A lot of the infrastructure is in place.

What do you think of that picture? For the club Ordizia Rugby Elkartea.
Or Try this one:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estadio_Nacional_Complutense#/media/File:Espa%C3%B1a-rugby2.jpg
That is from the Madrid team Complutense Cisneros.
Over 51k players, 221 clubs, it won't be long, the sooner the better as far as Spain goes.
Germany does need a lot of work though apart from RG Heidelberg and SC 1880 Frankfurt they are pretty bare stadium wise. Though 2 of their clubs were fully professional a few years ago.
