The reigning champs vs the upstarts from North of the border. No previous form for this, as they have not played each other in years and certainly not since they have both become good teams. Both sides used to playing on an artificial pitch and both have a lot of big game players.
Alledgedly 4000-5000 Glasgow fans coming down for this game. They will be very noisy and will drink a lot of beer!
Bring it on, it is going to be epic.

Re: Sarracens Vs Glasgow Warriors European Champions Cup 1/4 Final
Its actually a pretty meaty Glasgow pack and there will be no shortage of power coming through the front 5. We may actually have the edge in the starting scrums. Our bench is lighter no doubt, but a lot of our players do go the full 80 mins and i don't see a lot of sub action until very late on in the game unless there are injuries.
The match will undoubtably hinge on whether or not they can blow us away up front, which is what they do to a lot of teams they play against.
It has been a very quiet build up from Glasgow, very few squad announcements during the week. You do get the feeling that they are very focused on this.

Certainly with Big Brian paired with Gray, there will be a lot of power coming through the scrums - whether that gives us the edge, I would hazard a guess at probably not, but I hope we can get parity there. It's in the loose that I have my main concerns. As you say, we need to contain Vunipola *2, George, Itoje etc. It's a huge game for Adam Ashe.

Yes, time for AA to step up and show us he belongs at this level. He has shown lots of potential so far and now has the big boots of Josh Strauss to fill.

To be fair, the Selkirk Pixie is vastly improved. Russell V Farrell...could you find two more differing styles and personalities?

Think Glasgow front 5 is bigger than Sarries. The Sarries pack is not as deadly without Burger and Kruis. If the set piece is even, Glasgow have the tools to keep it close.
Still expect Sarries to win

Damn shame about the injuries that we have - Lee Jones instead of Leonardo Sarto, Bob Harley instead of Josh Strauss and Peter Horne instead of Mark Bennett are a definite step-down in quality which is a real pity given what an important event this is for the club.
We'll score a couple of excellent tries no doubt, but Sarries will have too much I think. Would love to have Nakarawa back for this one match. Bygones.

Well, the invasion is well under way. At Glasgow Central this morning (8.00a.m. train) and already more than a few kilted Warriors heading south, well stocked up for the journey! Good luck to all who travel, hope it is worthwhile!

At the risk of more jokes from Jimbo I just wanted to say that a few days ago I bumped into a wee ginger bloke on the Las Vegas strip who was wearing a warriors top! Gave him some chat and (unsurprisingly) he said I was the first person in 4 days to know what it was.
Good luck Glasgow - you have a chance but I felt the same before Twickenham and we all know what happened there!

Admin Boy, stop trying to curry favour by going all "look at me, I spoke to one of those working class Weegie types". Besides which I thought the reason you Luvvies got married was to spend LESS time with ginger men.
Now get back up to your room and do your duty, dammit.

The most worrying thing I saw in the press today was Will Greenwood tipping "four home wins; but Glasgow look like the only away side who could buck the trend".
We're doomed, doomed I say.

Guscott knows nothing, one of the worst pundits going. He's right up there with Jonathan One Eye Davies.
Grenwood is slightly better.
Don't allow yourselves to be chasing the game and you can do it. Start trying to chase the game against Sarries and it can get ugly quickly.

Glasgow have been taken to school here - without Strauss and with Gray going off when he did, we just don't have anywhere near the firepower required.
Our execution at key times has been poor as well.

A bit sloppy from Saracens at times, as they often can be when they don't have to go into top gear, but still enough moments of the usual power, pace and intensity that many teams aren't used to. It'll be interesting to see what they can bring for an away SF.

Well we got a bit of a doing. Just could not live with them. Good to see Toonie not trying to sugar coat it, they were to strong and we made far to many mistakes. It is going to take a very good team to stop them winning the cup again.
Anyway, apart from the result, it was a great day out. Fantastic support for both teams and a really welcoming atmosphere. They have a good set up at Allianz Park, sure the weather helped, but you kind of feel it would have been an enjoyable day whatever.

Doesn't surprise me. Being a good rugby player doesn't necessarily make you a good person.
Brown and Taylor are nice blokes though.
I like you Scottish guys, good posters. Glad you had a good day out albeit the result didn't go your way.
It doesn't always - that's why I try and make sure I have good food, good drink and company regardless of the result!
Glad you felt welcomed. It would annoy me if people at Allianz Park made you feel unwelcome.
Quite pleased I wasn't too far off with my prediction. Saracens did also pull away in the last 20 as I thought they would.

Re: Sarracens Vs Glasgow Warriors European Champions Cup 1/4 Final
I personally think Sarries as a team have a bad reputation as a negative outfit who play anti rugby.
People confuse an extremely solid defence with negative rugby but with the ball in hand yesterday Sarries were lethal, and had it not been for Stuart Hogg Sarries would have been clear in the first half.
I think only Munster have enough to beat that Sarries team, and that match in Dublin is gonna be a cracker.
