He was anonymous- compare & contrast yet another mom performance from Launchbury.
The Sarries Lions will now have a weeks rest pre tour.
Ah but you're forgetting AWJ has experience, which supersedes all form. Launchbury on the other hand obv has no experience. Where will the Lions be without AWJ experience???

I didn't say he played well, but at least he was getting stuck in. Tupiric and AWJ were in full ruck inspection mode. It was pitiful.
Not taking Launchbery after how he played yesterday is really alarming.

Is it permissible to say that John Barclay was superb for Scaahlettes?

Aye, his break and hands for that first try was pretty good. The guy is really comfy with the ball in hand in open play

To update the top thread - Connor Murray came through around 70mins and played well. Furlong was alright in a terrible Leinster team. Sexton played very poorly.

Billy V? That is quite frankly devastating news. Haskell is a decent player, but he is nothing like Billy V

No-one is unfortunately though. A huge loss, for him and for us Lions fans.

Massive loss with Billy V out, sounds like the shoulder needs an op. Perhaps he shouldn't have played this weekend, who knows.
Haskell is a quality replacement and will be a great tourist. But no one matches Billy V at 8.

Re: Lions 2017 - Squad fitness Updates
Obvious loss with BV and Haskell not exactly a like for like replacement but he will be an asset on the tour.
Can't see Warburton and O'Brien lasting the series either. Robshaw and Barclay must be next in line.
Moriarty and Tipuric aren't the right type of players to beat the ABs
Probably bad news for Bath as Faletau will now be flogged and return to the UK in bits.....

It is, but I am more likely to tour than Barclay who is the exact opposite of the Hulk Smash School of No.8s which Gatland prefers.jimbopip wrote:Is it permissible to say that John Barclay was superb for Scaahlettes?
The fact that Haskell was dropped in straight away is testament to that.
Huge, huge blow to our chances of doing anything on this tour.

If AWJ is still carrying an injury and makes it worse while on tour. experienced or not he will be useless, if he does not play.
If, he is carrying any injuries then like Billy V should with draw be fore the tour stars so a replacement ( who is not injured ) can be called up.

Good point. But if we just ignore facts for the minute ...
OK that does make Haskells selection more sensible, but its still a huge blow for the first team.

With Billy missing out, Stander has to start or we're lacking stronger carriers.geoff999rugby wrote:Falateau to start - with Warburton and POM

POM/Warburton/Faletau does seem a bit lightweight.

Re: Lions 2017 - Squad fitness Updates
So a midweek backrow of Moriarty, Tipuric, Haskell?
I could easily see Hadk taking the test bench spot as he can cover all 3 positions well, and has that explosive impact required off the bench.
