With 3 new signings due.... something is going to go wrong. Although we've borrowed the money from Barclays. Fat Man really doesn't want to invest.

Almiron’s highlights look promising, but it’s the MLS. Looks quick though, and should bring some much needed creativity. Jacob Murphy heading to WBA on loan. Rondon has been an absolute beast of a signing.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Yeah Rondon has been a good one, ill agree there.
Longstaff showing some serious promise for the long term. A few more local lads like him coming through would be fantastic....and it would appear there ARE a couple in the academy who look as good.
I wait and see about the 3 signings. Hopefully they are positive.
I still think Rafa will be away

Yes mate I've seen that now. Clear that he has no interest in spending any of his money on this club but will reap the transfer fees in and the marketing...

Four consecutive home wins. Fifth or sixth best defence in the PL? Benitez has pretty much saved us for another season. Sean Longstaff for England?

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Bit early for that, definitely worth a look in the U21's.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Great 3-1 v Southampton, and PL status secured. Great to see Ayoze get his first hat-trick.
Interesting summer ahead. Benitez has until the end of the month, and then he's off. Could get a job pretty much anywhere, so I would be massively surprised to see him stay. Wouldn't even know where to begin searching for a new manager.
Will Ashley invest? I just don't see it. Ayoze wants a return to La Liga this summer, due to the lack of ambition, and we've slapped £35m on him . Rondon deal up in the air, until we know about WBA's division status next season.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Sadly it looks like Newcastle are going to be stuck in limbo until they get rid of Ashley.
Benitez has performed another minor miracle, keeping them up this season, but I can understand why he's keeping his options open. A manager of his ability doesn't want to be struggling to stay up, season after season.
He deserves to be given a decent transfer kitty, but I'm guessing Ashley is happy with the way things are.
Feel bad for Toon fans, Can't be fun having a clown like that as owner of your club.

Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan confirms he’s agreed terms to buy NUFC from Mike Ashley. Believe it, when I see it confirmed. Benitez stalling contract extension, until further developments.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Ill believe it when i see the Sports direct signs being hauled off...
However known Ashley, he'll probably have some clause in that the deal can only go through with the Sports Direct signs up for another 12 months or something.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Rafa confirmed as Manager of Dalian Yifang in China, £12m a year.
Sorry, but for all the outpouring of grief, I hope people will see this for what it is. Money talks. Regardless of what a good job he did, he still jumped ship when it didn't suit. He did the same at Liverpool and fell out with the Owners.
He was one of the best Managers we've had, but time to move on.
Statement expected today by the BZG, though rumours are they will confirm the takeover is off.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Appreciate what he did for us over the last three years, but now is the time to move on. Financially, it’s a ridiculous offer, so can see why he’s gone. Strange move, in terms of a footballing decision though, and doesn’t quite coincide with the ambition he has been striving for. I’d expect he will be back in Europe, within two seasons.
Guest- Guest
Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
Benitez in making this decision has to consider his responsibility to his support team - who will also benefit in their hike in wages. It must be frustrating being a Newcastle supporter - and having the same failed promises / raised expectations from its owner Mike Ashley. I thought Newcastle was supposedly in its final stages to being sold off to a Gulf Potentate.

That's what really sticks with me, John. Wanted a project, how is this a project? Money talks, we all know that, at least come out and say it. The club were never going to match £12m a year.

So Perez to Leicester for £30m.
Thats actaully a good deal as ive never been totally happy with him...however i just wonder if this is the start of Ashley cashing in.
I wonder if the buy out is happening and Ashley is starting some asset stripping??

Have just seen Steve Gerrard rejects newcastle job.
Is that only because he's been linked to the job in the media or that he's actively been chased by newcastle.
I cant see him being a quiet one to settle for Ashleys requirements.

I saw that this morning, but I don't think he's been offered it. He's just made the shortlist.
No way would he turn the club down to stay at Rangers.

Newcastle is a very big club...but working for Ashley must now be a massive deterrent.

Why would he actively move to a smaller club? Genuinely would be a baffling move, he could get a much better job, like the Palace or Watford job in a season as well.

Just seen more ridiculous rumours. Joselu's move to Alaves might be on hold due to the 'pending arrival' of Jose Mourinho who worked with him at Real Madrid.

Your kidding?? thats bad. Guess we must be getting taken over...as Mourinho wont go to a club where he cant spend money.

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
The rumours are embarrassing, especially anything related with Mourinho.
Majority of fans, aren’t even that bothered, with who is going to be Rafa’s successor. The fans lost interest a long time ago. Whoever does comes in, aims for 17th, and that’s the target. No doubt, the club will try and make out the returning Gayle, Colback, Lazaar, Aarons, Murphy and Saivet, are like new signings.

You're not seriously suggesting Rangers are a smaller club than Newcastle are you Geordie? I get that Toon fans think they're big, but that would be delusional

Re: Newcastle United 2019 / 2020
I would say it would be a bit of a risk for him to go from Rangers to Newcastle right now. Rangers is gonna give him much more experience winning games and not getting caught up in that middle-management pile (like a Pardew, Bruce, Hughes) and also he might feel that with the change at Celtic lately, this is the time to be at Rangers.
Plus, you know, Ashley is mental, Newcastle are bananas and if he wanted to get insight from anyone, he has a pretty established relationship with the man who just left.

Yep, looking like Bruce. Desperate for the job he’s always wanted, so happy to play the puppet under Ashley. Nice and cheap too. Hope to finish 17th.
Depressing stuff

hes not even that cheap, apparently the 1m quoted fee for getting him out of Sheffield Wednesday is much lower than reality.

Unfortunately, the club is such a joke right now, idiots will believe anything that’s said, or rumoured. The Big Sam stuff is not even remotely believable, similar to the Mourinho stuff. Big Sam is just trying to make himself relevant. Ashley has already sacked him once, inside six months, because he was absolutely horrific.
The club, and all the stories surrounding it, have become boring.

Apparently the £5m is the release clause, Odnan. And given Ashley never pays out for Managers, £5m for Bruce is a joke.

Again, if you believe these stories, you don’t know much about Ashley, and how the football club has been run. It’s a free-for-all now, and the media are having a field day, with stories and rumours, that they know won’t be dismissed, because Ashley doesn’t communicate.
Whatever the fee to get Bruce is, it’s doesn't really matter. Club going nowhere, fast.

I’m talking Mourinho, Gerrard, and Big Sam. Of course the Bruce rumours are true, he’s coming, but the £5m is ridiculous to believe, before wages, given Ashley’s history.
All in all, this has been another shocking embarrassment for the club. This season, with this squad, is a car crash waiting to happen.

No point bringing back managers that have already been sacked by Ashley, like Allardyce was, after six months. It's Bruce, so time to get over it. I'd imagine it's bottom 3 at Xmas, and then Ashley goes looking elsewhere.
