Take a bow SirBenson!  In a Hideki Matsuyama like storming finish all six of his picks finished in scoring positions; he top scored in the finish points category and added gloss to a dominant performance.  GPB, Owen10ozzy and Pedro each had five scoring picks earning a three figure finish points haul.  Owen pipped GPB to second place by virtue of three top ten finishers to GPB's two.  Beninho, Davie, Sand, and WireTapper all had four picks score points.  Be_the_Ball, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, SetupDetermines, and Super_Realist all had three scoring picks while Eyetoldyouso and LadyPutt both had two scoring picks.  TheCleaver had just the one scoring pick.

Matsuyama shot a course record equalling 61 as he blew away the field and became the second man to win two WGC titles in the current season.

The third World Golf Championship event of 2017 sees the vast majority of the best players in the world head to Akron, Ohio.  Almost all of the top 50 in the world are teeing it up at Firestone Country Club's South Course.  World number 36, Brandt Snedeker, is the only player absent from the top 50 and just two of the field are not contributing to the strength of field calculations.

Dustin Johnson is the defending champion and on something of a WGC title winning streak having won the WGC - Mexico Championship and the WGC - Matchplay titles earlier this year.  If he were to successfully defend he would be the first to win three WGC's in a year.

Due to the limited field size the number of picks is scaled back to two from each category plus reserve.  This is also a no cut event so the usual cut bonuses are not in effect but additional points are available in round two.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Thomas Pieters sets the early lead in the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational after a round of 65.  He leads, fellow Fantasy League pick, Russell Knox by one shot.  Six are one shot further back; four of those, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm, were picks.

Be_the_Ball and SirBenson lead the way in the Fantasy League after both had Pieters, Spieth, and one other pick score.  Davie's lucky numbers proved to be just that as three of his "picks" scored points.  Kwinigolfer, Owen10ozzy, and SetupDetermines all had two picks score points while Beninho, GPB, LadyPutt, TheCleaver, and WireTapper are also off of the mark with one scoring pick.

With no cut there's Top 5 Low Round points on offer in round two so there is an opportunity to catch up.

Weather delayed the second and eventually the second round finished with Jimmy Walker leading at the halfway stage. He shot 65 for the Low Round of the day and was one of seven players who opened with rounds in the 60s. For the second straight day rounds of 67 or lower were needed to make the Top 5 Low Round scores and in round two just five players managed that mark. Two of them were picks; Jason Day shot 66 while Kevin Chappell shot 67. Super_Realist had Day while Chappell featured in the selections of Beninho, Sand, and WireTapper. This didn't affect the Fantasy League leaders in any way but it has allowed Beninho and WireTapper to move up into a share of fourth place as Sand and Super got off of the mark.

More points are on offer in round three so maybe those languishing at the bottom can make a move.

For the third day running scores of 67 or lower were needed to score points. Fourteen players matched or beat that score; nine of those were picks. GPB had four of those picks while Owen10ozzy and SirBenson both had three scoring picks. That was enough for SirB to move ahead of Be_the_Ball who had two scoring picks. Beninho, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, Sand, and Super_realist also had two scoring picks. Davie, Eyetoldyouso, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, SetupDetermines, and TheCleaver each had one scoring pick.

No one picked Scott Hend who had the Low Round of the day with a 63.

In a Hideki Matsuyama like storming finish all six of his picks finished in scoring positions; he top scored in the finish points category and added gloss to a dominant performance.
