Serie A Team of the season
Hi everyone.
I'm probably not the only one but i've really enjoyed watching the Serie A on ESPN this season and wanted to offer my team of the season.
Any comments or your own teams are more than welcome.
GK - Fernando Muslera (SS Lazio)
Kept 13 clean sheets in 36 games and helped Lazio back into Europe.
LB - Pablo Armero (Udinese)
Lighting quick and bags of energy, he allowed Udinese to play a narrower formation as he covered the whole of the left hand side.
RB - Lorenzo Di Silvestri (Fiorentina)
Asserted himself as first choice right back for the national team, very powerful.
CB - Thiago Silva (AC Milan)
Immense reading of the game means he is rarely ever exposed, Milan only conceded 24 goals all season.
CB - Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)
He marks players so tightly the strikers are still checking behind them when they get home after the game.
CM - Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina)
Plays with so much assurance and with one pass can open up any defence, has developed into the next Andrea Pirlo, sitting deeper than usual.
CM - Javier Pastore (Palermo)
I can't see him staying at Palermo much longer, everything good went through him and Ilicic for Palermo. Loves a nutmeg which is also good to see.
LW - Emmanuele Giaccherini (Cesena)
Not a household name but everytime I watched him he frightened defenders with his pace and dribbling ability plus gets on the scoresheet alot with 8 goals to keep Cesena up.
RW - Alexis Sanchez (Udinese)
Part one of the strike partnership which propelled Udinese into the Champions League next season. Added the ability to finish to his game the season to become a potent player.
ST - Antonio Di Natale (Udinese)
Scoring 28 goals in a league which some say is very defensive and at 33 years old. Pure Class.
ST - Edison Cavani (Napoli)
At 12 million euros he was a bargain for 26 goals.
Hope some of you disagree otherwise we will have nothing to talk about!

Haven't Palmero put a £40 million price tag on Pastore though? I can't see anybody spending that much money on him.
Do you think Sanchez will leave Udinese, or will Champions League football entice him to stay?

Re: Serie A Team of the season
Clubs like Palermo and Udinese have a reputation for selling players so I can see either of them going for about £30 million, the values they are putting on them will reduce as we get further to deadline day. Both Pastore and Sanchez seem very happy at their clubs and don't seem to be making any noises about leaving. IMO they should stay instead of moving to a larger club and warming the bench like Cassano at AC Milan, players as enjoyable to watch as these two should be playing as much as possible for the good of the game.

Wasn't Cassano pushed out of his old side though because of his infamous attitude?
