Re: Edinburgh V Treviso
And we fail to score against 13 men and end up losing.
Sounds like we were greatly lacking in composure all game, but four 5m scrum penalties and no penalty try is s real grievance!

Re: Edinburgh V Treviso
Edinburgh are the specialist of losing at home to Italian teams..
Must have been some crazy defending from Treviso at the end though..
Shame as i genuinely thought Edinburgh had a decent chance for the 3rd place playoff spot..

Was anyone watching? Was their scrum going backwards?

Not really it just appeared they coughed up penalties until someone got binned and then the scrum contest was over

Horrible result. Undoes a promising first couple of games.

So my £10 bet has paid for a new Kindle for my wife and a copy of Mario and Rabbids for me.
I'm not proud but at least someone in Edinburgh got something out of tonight.

Re: Edinburgh V Treviso
That was shocking. Just back from the game and cockerill will be having them in tomorrow morning to train.
Positives
The scrum - destroyed benneton's repeatedly
Deans tries - couple of decent passes
That's it.
Negatives
Kinghorn - had an absolute shocker this evening. Chickened out of catching a ball in the first half, then that forward basketball pass. Ffs!
Bradbury - he's not a 6, I think he showed that tonight. He works getting the ball and running with it, but not a lot of use at the breakdown. Should stick to playing 8
Hardie - did nothing, might have been due to having little support
CDP - couple of runs into contact was about the highlights of his evening so far off the promise he showed initially when he joined the club.
Weir - 2nd half we were barely in their half, he should have been kicking the ball behind or for a line out, instead he attempted to spin the ball out to the backs. Wasn't working should have changed.
Defence - every time they got into our 22 they pretty much came away with points.
Lastly the ref, so for the record Edinburgh put themselves in the position to lose that game so no blame of the ref for the loss, but 4 penalties on their try line and no penalty try is just mental. It was clear it was blatant cheating but they got away with it.
Benneton were incredibly cynical with a lot of dubious activities going on, holding players down etc and it worked, Toolis was on a few occasions getting caught up in a bit of afters rather than getting back to where he should be. He wasn't the only one, just it happened to him a few times right in front of me.
Overall though Benneton deserved the win. They took their chances and did what they needed to do. Edinburgh did none of that and our loss was totally deserved.

Exactly that, cynical foul play that they got away with so continued doing. Along with poor decision making and handling from Edinburgh.

Re: Edinburgh V Treviso
My heart sank when I saw the scoreline this morning.
I will never make fun of Mike Coman again*.
Clearly epic leadership was exactly what was needed for this game.

Re: Edinburgh V Treviso
He's not best pleased! He specifically mentions the international players too
"We were inaccurate and we did exactly what we said we wouldn't do. The players have to learn their lessons very quickly because it's unacceptable really. We are better than that. I'm disappointed to say the least."
"This team has got a lot to learn and there will be bumps along the way – it was a pretty big bump this evening – so we’ve got exactly what we deserved. If we play like that and don’t do what we say we’re going to do, and we don’t have international players performing to a standard, then that’s exactly what you get, you get beaten. It’s not good enough."
"Every time you drop points when you shouldn’t, it’s going cost you at some point in the table. Tonight, we got one point, but its four points lost really, and that’s nothing else but our own making."

Re: Edinburgh V Treviso
Probably no comfort to Edinburgh fans this morning, but this win, along with the Drag Queens beating Connacht, is probably good for the league.
Benetton sound like they have developed a bit of tenacity and don't want to role over the way they have in previous seasons. They gave Ulster a decent game last weekend as well.
Easy wins are not a good thing for the competition and maybe now other sides will take them a bit more seriously. This will hopefully give them some confidence as well.

Back into the depths with a dogfight amongst the perennial bottom feeders to avoid last most likely. Thought Kinghorn was the new Christian Cullen ?

Some things never change but at least we can still all enjoy 21st century Kleenex boys struggle with basic English. I suggest he starts by looking up perennial in a dictionary. What a bore!
