Crane is dreadful can't believe Saxons pick him. If you want to play open rugby he is terrible. Looks for contact and dies with ball every time

He's only in the team as Narraway is injured.

I do like Crane but he's much more suited to Winter months. been pretty poor today really, 5 pens is not great against this kind of opposition.

Botha has totally outplayed Attwood in both games now, think big Dave is playing himself out of the world cup squad.

Re: Homepage - Page 2
Attwood not ready. Been saying it all year. That's why he was bench at glos. Pdj was out bug loss. I have coached attwood and played against him. Bristol sent him to dings crusaders in n3( now called n2 ??) to toughen up. He learnt a lot. He is a specimen but lacks aggression. Botha a poor but willing carrier. Saracens have 2 locks who must have carry less than a metre a season. However Botha is a work horse and a great lineout option. Rate him but not international. Would have him or robson as 4 th lock.
Saxons have not picked certain players like robson, jsd, Barrit, Robshaw etc because they know what they can do and are in the mix for wc squad. Lancaster said Botha, attwood, Goode, hodgson and Stevens were picked with chance of wc the others as development

Yeah, saw that late last night, not great news for him. Exercise induced migraines!!!!! Not sure how you manage to deal with that. Apparantly it is getting worse. it used to be he started to get one after about an hour of physical exertion, but had to go off at the weekend after 34 minutes as he was struggling with it!
Sad news if it forces him to quit the game.

Yeh be a big shame he's a class act.
Randomly I am distantly related to him. Have family in Australia and he is a distant 3rd cousin of mine or something. Never met him though.

Re: Homepage - Page 2
more and more people having to retire due to this. Its massive news in the US with NFL.
There have been loads of incidences of people dying or commiting suicide due to the abnormal constant concussion has on the brain. Watched a documentary on it last time i was over there.
Lots of players doing this in the US

anonmattyt wrote:Trinder looking good. Getting george for him is the long game. Front row take time. I have an absurd amount of good hookers but it is a key position.
Once trinder has bulked and can carry in to contact without losing the ball he will be deadly. Quickest players at Gloucester are 1 may 2 sharples and 3 trinder.
Trinder almost equal with sharples pace wise which makes
Him crazy dangerous on outside break.
Like
13s to have the turn of pace. That is why tindall kills opportunities with his lack of pace. Trinder a Bolter for wc
Mat, have only just seen this that you posted on my Sarries page yesterday.
Very impressed with Trinder mate, has looked very comfortable at Saxons. Always looks to have time on the ball and runs excellent lines. Reminds me in some ways of Conrad Smith, although not year Smith's level just yet, but that type of player. If he becomes even 80% of the player Smith is then England have found a gem and he will have a long international career.

Re: Homepage - Page 2
Top be fair you have to have a positive mindset otherwise you would just give up.
Its difficult when something like this happens. In the past people just played on. However knowing what we know now about injuries like this means that players are often advised to retire and take the insurance pay out.
Whether he plays regularly again is probably toss of a coin.
Good player and a great defender.
Aussies have problems in the centre positions with Barnes gone and AAC so out of form and not playign 13 it becomes difficult.
They have a few options but will need to bed them in.

I think Giteau is nailed on to play 12 now, although I would rather see JOC there to be honest. They have options at least at 12, it is 13 which is more of a problem for them really.
Real shame, top player and one of my favourites.

Thing is I can't remember when I last saw Ioane play 13 for the Reds, he's played all his rugby on the wing in recent times.

Re: Homepage - Page 2
Ioane would completely kill the way the aussies want to play. he has really poor hands. He knocks the ball on enough on the wing let alone the centre. Passing wise he makes Nonu look like larkham. when they had mortlock they had a big unit who had really good hands.
Ioane is a manufactured rugby player and not one i rate. He is decent on the wing where you can use his power and explosivity. Aussies do need something a but different as they can be a bit samey but Ioane at 13 would be a disaster

Re: Homepage - Page 2
I think they will go Giteau and either Horne or McCabe Mccabe is rally under rated and can play many positions well. Also really powerful with good hands

Re: Homepage - Page 2
I think you are being a little harsh on Ioane Mat. I agree that he is not the best 13 for the way that Australia want to play, but he is an excellent winger whose hands are a bit better than you give him credit for.
I do wonder whether Deans will turn back to Mortlock, as Barnes will be a huge miss in terms of experience as well as ability.
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Ioane
12. JOC
13. Mortlock
14. AAC
15. Beale
I've seen plenty worse backlines than that take the field for international rugby matches.

Horne seems very injury prone at present. McCabe has had a very good year and could be a good shout. Very solid player who wouldn't let them down at all.

Horne is not International class, can't see past AAC for 13. He's playing on the wing and not out of form. He played the last year there so why would they change it? Hape doesn't play 12 for Bath but is England first choice.

Re: Homepage - Page 2
All blacks backline is a strange one. they have so many players out of form and just not firing. However Henry is a creature of habit so you would say it will be
9 Cowan
10 Carter
11 He loves sivivatu but Guildford, Dagg(if fit), Jane and many others in with a shout
12 SBW
13 Smith
14 Gear
15 Muliana
9 Cowan
10 Carter

Re: Homepage - Page 2
I think in general terms Graham Henry is a fairly conservative coach, in which case I would expect to see an AB backline of
9. Cowan/Weepu
10. DC
11. Sivivatu
12. Nonu
13. Smith
14. Jane
15. Mils
Come the World Cup.
Having said that if selecting on form then the only Hurricans player who would be near the team would be Weepu, with SBW, Freuan and Guildford wearing jerseys 12,13 and 14, and the 11 shirt would also be up for grabs with any number of potential candidates. The 3N's may throw a few things up though if Henry decides to experiement there, and as always injuries will have an impact.

Re: Homepage - Page 2
Me and pooly disagree ove Horne. I think he is their best 13 and he is loved by Deans. He is back this week or next so will be interesting
AAC is massively out of form. look on any website or paper and the aussies are discussing the 13 shirt
one example below
"13 Tom Carter (Waratahs) - A hat-trick of tries improves this Wallaby long shot's chance of sneaking into Robbie Deans' thinking. In truth, Adam Ashley-Cooper has been out of form so it's not an impossibility that Carter could be called in for the trip. "

wings I would go Guildford and Gear.
