Bristol City have already beaten Watford at Watford in the second round of the EFL (Carabao) Cup back in August of this year. So we have an exact repeat of that fixture, but this time I think Marco Silva needs to show he is capable of mounting a cup run.

Liverpool probably edged it but Everton can feel aggrieved.

It's an interesting one. Presume he can say it as firstly he himself doesn't refer to Conte, the interviewer raises his name and Mourinho makes out he wasn't aware of that (which of course he is), and secondly his comment is factually correct, Conte was suspended for match fixing, he later had that overturned and was acquitted but he was suspended.
I expect Conte is about to blow a fuse in his next interview though.

Looks like the Leicester team felt sorry for Vardy missing out through injury, so they've organised a replay for him

Oops. That’s us out the cup.
Disappointing, but really need to concentrate on fighting for promotion.
Bit worrying all the same with these so called good youngsters.
Well done to Peterborough.

Watford's poor (dreadful) run of results followed Troy Deeney's highly publicised comments after Watford beat Arsenal 2-1 at home (14th Oct), saying opposition teams don't like Watford's aggressive style, opposition players can't hack it, lack the will to resist them and so are easily outmuscled by them. The very next game Watford were winning 1-2 at Chelsea and Chelsea decided to go aggressive and came back to outmuscle and beat Watford 2-4. That then provided a blueprint for other teams to beat Watford. Watford responded by ramping their own aggression levels and that was followed by a series of red-cards and player suspensions. Deeney himself received 2 red cards following his publicised comments and in total a 7 match suspension. Marco Silva has to respond to this challenge otherwise he will himself get sacked. I personally think he will turn it around in the premiership and will try to go on a cup run.

Coventry 2 - Stoke 1.
I watched the highlights of this match and Stoke were dreadful. Comical defending (giving the ball away) and rushed inept attacks. Watching that match revealed why Stoke have shipped in 47 goals in 22 Premiership games. I think the owners were forced to sack Mark Hughes shortly afterwards because Stoke looked lackadaisical, too many Stoke players not interested, poor link up play in attack ... despite playing a full strength side (more or less the same team they fielded for the Newcastle Premiership game). They last played a game on 1st January (loss to Newcastle), so they had five days to recover and prepare and there next game following this one is in 9 days time - so there was no need to rest players - hence the full strength side.

Great draw for Newport
Cardiff got Man City at home if we beat Mansfield. Given the lack of form recently I would not bet on it. Hope so though. Last time we played Man City at home we beat them
I worked just outside Yeovil for a while. Nice little town and well done to them on the Man Utd draw. The town will benefit when all those folk from London come down watch their team

I like the referee cracking down on dissent and simulation.
Chelsea down to 9 and lost two good penalty-takers.

Shame we couldn't go through, but gave a good account of ourselves - good to continue to see our youngsters progress well
Also good to see a referee stand up to one of these big teams, and especially Chelsea's diving. The Pedro dive was the worst I've ever seen, embarrassing a grown man doing that.
Also good to see a ref actually send somebody off for dissent - too often they just allow players to surround and abuse them, start actually enforcing that law!

Haven’t seen Willian but Morata was fouled and had to go down because refs are so inept that they don’t give standing fouls

FA Cup weekend is upon is. Good luck to Yeovil Town. I worked just outside of there a few years back. Nice enough people (well as nice as you can get as far as English people go) so I hope they send the Man Utd fans back to London with grumpy faces

Rashford and carrick standing out the way every ujotedbplayer should be - obvious they are a cut above the opponent.

Obiang injured, Masuaku sent off for spitting (could be 6 games), so we're looking at no Arnie, Lanzini, Ayew, Masuaku, Antonio, Carroll, Obiang, Reid, Fonte, Sakho for the Palace game on Tuesday
