Wouldn't have minded if I had lost, but I set up that way thinking Tino was going to be short at CB so wanted to see how that would play out

lads, 2 nice games, guess the draw was the desired outcome.
preferred the first game myself, even if I did concede at the death.
softest penalty ive ever seen

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
So Cup competition wise....
My thoughts are that to run it using the Tournament Set Up on FIFA rather than do individual games. Therefore it's not eating too much into my time and we could actually run a number of quick cup competitions over the course of the season. This would fix teams at a given point though and all games for the cup would take place on one night. I thought we could do 3 cup tournaments, a League cup with just our teams, FA Cup with English teams also included and Champions League equivalent with the best of Europe involved?

Only problem is those clubs would be weaker because of the players we'll have signed from them.

Does Fifa give an overall team rating based on the players in the squad? Thinking that way you can select the top teams only

Can we have all the results posted on the thread each week for those unable to watch every game?
For example at my work the Twitch links are blocked.

I'll put them in a spoilers tab in there as I know some people prefer to watch their match to see the result.

You had two runs, one by Callejon and then one by Reus which was amazing that both deserved goals.

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
I went for some "interesting tactics" this week which got me a couple of goals in the second game
I think i just need to be a bit bolder and hope that my defence can hold out if I want wins

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
Right, so we appear to have finished the week well ahead of schedule!!
In these instances, should we look to start the next week early to keep the ball rolling?
So off the top of my head, we draw more lawyers and injuries today (keep this weeks lawyers open perhaps?) and aim for tactics submitted by end of Monday?

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
That’s fair comment Miky. We would need to be on top of it if we did it.
Might be a sub-conscious need to see my team actually score a goal. It’s like watching the current Everton side atm

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
Wouldnt want to keep existing lawyers open, gives an unfair advantage to someone who might not have taken one of their week 3 lawyers until they see who they could potentially get by adding week 4 lawyer cash
And yes thats completely based on me already accepting both of mine

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
Been having a think on how to simplify the Google Doc, and there's no real way I can think of which does it easily
The only solution potentially could be each team having its own tab, and you'd need to fill in positions under each player for the relevant week ie GK, DEF 1, DEF 2, MID 1, FWD 1 and so on
I don't think its particularly any quicker, just think everyone should take responsibility for their own games, literally would take 5 mins per game in its current form

You could have a players in the league list, which includes team name and position. If you do that, and if Google Sheets has a Data Validation and/or Dropdown lists, I could do a sheet in the background that produces a dropdown list for each team.
From there, the weekly ratings tables could just be a select player from the dropdown list and a lookup to the position. You could also have the dropdown on scorers/assists.
Would remove the risk of typos, ensuring player names are always spelt the same and also keep a consistent position

I've never really used data validation much but could give it a go and hope I don't break anything
Would still require someone excel savvy to update the drop downs every week, and agreed that it would mean that the work still isn't being shared around

If it has dropdown list as a function, then I can get the dropdowns to automatically update (while I can in Excel so I'm assuming the same functionality in sheets)
I use Data Validation a lot, so I'm happy to do this Bam

How about:
Week 3
- current lawyers are open until midday tomorrow
Week 4
- new lawyers and injuries up after midday tomorrow
- tactics submitted by COB Monday
Week 5
- new lawyers and injuries up Wednesday midday
- tactics submitted by COB Friday
The enthusiasm at the moment may even mean we can get to regularly doing two games a week!

Re: Challenge League Homepage V
An option is to pick one manager for each game and make it their responsibility to update the Google doc for their game in that game week - can be added to the fixtures like voters were last season
I'm happy to update all the tables and so on for team of the week / season and check it all works, but people should be able to input the data pretty easily
