Yeah, there were a whole load of updates around the 22nd. We couldn’t work out whether it was the start of a round of updates for all leagues.
So rather than freeze part way through a round of increases or wait for them all to be done, we opted to freeze prices at the end of season 1

It was suggested that we would do this season as a FIFA trial and then start a fresh league with new lower rated teams.

But it's not confirmed that's what we're doing. Surely it goes to a vote nearer the time.

Yeah definitely needs to go to a vote. Mentioning it as it is worth bearing in mind we might reboot for anyone thinking of planning for another season

I’d vote for Championship or a lower league. Depends what is on FIFA19. Really push the boat out and go for building from the bottom.
FIFA league makes that easier as you don’t rely on managers knowing players.

A Fifa League where we all start with an actual rubbish team puts a lot of emphasis on tactics early on.
The only problem is the reliance on transfermarkt.

I told Hero this when it was set up. Fifa and transfermarkt are not compatible. In my opinion there should be some sort of cost based on current rating

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
I honestly don't see the difference between using TM on voting and using TM on FIFA.
On voting you were still able to buy players cheaper than their rating. All that changes is it is a FIFA rating not a personal subjective one.
In fact if anything TM is better with FIFA than a voting league is. On a voting league you were able to big up your players and actually get inflated ratings for your player.
FIFA rates players more accurately and less subjectively, so is in fact more realistic and more compatible with TM than a voting league

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
I also disagree
The best and most consistent attacking player in the league over the first 7 weeks has been Willian - he's certainly not the highest rated or TM valued
You can see how TM and FIFA are compatible when you look at someone like Umtiti - he started this year's FIFA rated at 82, a decent centre back rating, and priced at £27m on TM
His performances this season have increased his live rating to 84, and he has seen two increases in TM to £36m and now £54m - as Olly said yesterday, he's probably going to be rated 86+ on FIFA 19
This seems like it works quite well to me. There will still be bargains available (Filipe Luis for £9m and an 86 rating spring to mind) but surely that is part of the fun of the game?

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
Yeah but if you have a quantative system for rating players now, you should exploit that and come up with a system for buying players based on it.
My view is an 80 rated player should cost £10m, an 85 rated should be £30m and a 90 would be £100m. Or whatever it is, I'm sure it wouldn't take long to work it out

It's meant to be fun not a spreadsheet exercise
I've enjoyed picking up bargain players as much as I have signing the big names

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
You'd also lose some of the deals and discussions that are happening
Ie this player is rated 4 points higher, but the trade off is £10m TM value - which do the managers value higher at this point

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
I can see your point and where you are coming from Trebs.
Personally, I quite like the fact that it is realistic in the sense that you can get some better players cheaper because they are older. And to an extent older players are less of a benefit on FIFA as their stamina levels drop.
It is something that should be discussed and out to a vote when the time comes, and we go with the consensus approach.

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
The FIFA ratings as cost is pure and simply daft.
At the beginning of the season Mbappe was an 83, Jonas was also an 83.
Telling me that they should be available at the same price?

When I join the reboot I'll immediately get all the 80-something rated players that are available for less than a million.

Go for it. I think it's been proven in the games so far that it won't help you to do so.
With FIFA you really need a balance of ages, stamina etc

Yep that's an option - as it is for everyone else in the league who also has two TPs a week
If we're looking at it as a long term league though, good luck with building on your squad when your max lawyer value is 1.1m

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
A costing system will never be manageable based on ratings. I prefer the TM way.
However, and I know next to nothing about Fifa but, could using the coin system work? Does it have to be £££?

Coin wise is difficult to track as it's constantly changing and as the season goes on the prices plummet.

Oh also reboot discussion wise, i always enjoyed the draft style (ie. pots of GKs, pots of RBs etc) - i'd be happy to help draw up stuff like that - and you could do it snake draft order, so whoever got 10th pick of GKs got 1st pick of RBs so on and so forth
