If you go onto their site, Fifa 18 career mode, find the player, it'll tell you their ratings but also their ratings in different positions. Really handy.
Cheers Marky, SoFiFa does the same. Unless I have missed something it doesn't say how their overall rating goes on to affect their ratings for pace, shooting etc though.
So https://www.futwiz.com/en/fifa18/player/lucas-torreira/39623
Torreira is 77 for a CDM and his acceleration is 82. If I play him as a CB (where he is rated 68), how does it affect the acceleration rating of 82? Does it go down by the same amount (so in this case by 9)

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
I don't think it affects the individual ratings in that way. If you are 82 quick up front, you are going to be 82 quick at FB.
It probably takes into account the skills required for each position and works out a rating based on those skills

If that's the case then really it doesn't matter if you play someone out of position if you feel their individual ratings could suit a different position?
Interesting that really if true. I would expect it to penalise you in some way.

Well it penalises you to the extent that they might be rated at 82 at CB, but would then be, say 78 at FB and 77 at DM, so the more out of position a player is played, the worse they will be.
The bit I'm not quite sure about is that all players have the same ratings on the left hand positions as on the right hand positions. I disregard this a little as I work on the basis that if they have a low rating on their weak foot, they are always going to be cutting on to their strong foot

I'll trial a few games over the weekend with players really out of positions (Aubameyang at CB, Silva up front etc) and see how it plays out.

But is that bit true? Obviously playing a striker in a CB role will have a knock on effect because they were have low standing/sliding tackle ratings. But say I had I had a CM, who was relatively quick, strong and had reasonable defending stats. If I played them at FB the overall rating will go down even though i feel they have the right attributes to succeed there and, we assume as you said earlier, that their individual stats such as acceleration and strength won't change no matter where they are put.
I suppose the question is if someone is rated 82 at CB and 78 as FB, what actually changes? Does a lower rating in another position actually change anything?

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
It doesn't actually change the player ratings - i.e. the shooting, passing, tackling ability.
It's more a recommendation from fifa not to play the player in a specific position. Playing full backs at centre back was my plan as they tend to be fast with good tackling ability.
But yeah, if you play aubemayang as a cb he'd still have the incredible pass but will screw up tackles.

If you played a back three, you could comfortably get away with playing either a LB or a CB as the LCB, same with a RB or a CB at RCB.

Am I right in saying the earliest we would reboot is September (for Fifa 19)?
In which case there's probably time to get a third season out of this?

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
We're at week 8 now so another 10 weeks of season 2. That'd take us until the beginning of August. I'm then on hols from the 10th to 17th so we'd only have 4 - 5 weeks after that for a season.
I'd say we do something with those weeks but probably not a full season.

Here's my big idea to make Season 3 work in a shorter timescale.
At the end of Season 2, Top 5 into League A, Bottom 5 into League B, fewer fixtures but still means we have a competitive Season 3 and also gets done in time.

Well if we're rebooting my 72m signing of an 81 rated Salah was pointless. Does anyone want him?

I'm just so against the idea of another v2 league ending after 2 seasons, that's all.
Could also just do a tournament, with the two groups of 5, top 2 in each group make the semi finals

I totally agree in regards to reboots on here but I also think we've got a league set up now that's got people interested again. We get the framework right for when Fifa 19 comes in and it should make for an epic league going forward.

Re: Challenge League Homepage VI
I really want a long standing league but we did also say that this season would be a trial run for a FIFA league where we could start small and go for a really long league once FIFA 19 is out.
Happy with any kind of plan that fill the gaps although it will also coincide with holiday season.
