Re: Group F Discussion
Germany must be pretty strong when Neuer(best keeper of his generation), Boateng and Ozil all with injury problems in recent times keeping out the likes of ter Stegen, Sule, Reus and Goretzka on the bench.

Re: Group F Discussion
Mexico look a decent side, and causing Germany problems. German team has no pace whatsoever, which showcases why Sané should of been included. Low has his favourites, hence why this looks like the same German side from the Euro’s. They haven’t evolved at all.

Germany won the last world cup being painfully slow.

Re: Group F Discussion
What a goal by Lozano, fully deserved for Mexico. Germany have been awful, completely open to the counter every time.

Re: Group F Discussion
In the past 6 world cup's Mexico have qualified for the world cup, have got out of the group stages, and then have lost in the Round 16 knockout phase. I hope they go a round further this time.

Re: Group F Discussion
What a start to this group, blown wide open! As was said, Germany looked so one paced and really lacked any creation for the all the possession. Actually reminded me of the Spain team after its peak.
Brandt looked good when he got on and Sane is definitely going to be a miss. Ozil a passenger as has been the case so often last 12 months.
Credit Mexico who look a threat going forward and very solid at the back. Let's hope manager doesn't go tinkering (although some players will need next game off to recover...out on their feet)

Fair play to Mexico, fantastic win for them. Germany looked lethargic and lacklustre, and missed Sane, group blown wide open

Makes the tournament more interesting when the big teams lose.
Be an interesting group now with that German loss.

Quite happy for Mexico, they passed so well for much of the game and they gave the Germans a headache and then scored the only goal. Good job Mexico.

Re: Group F Discussion
Ozil was the Arsenal version, absolutely pathetic. Draxler was also garbage.

If Germany finish second in this group they will face Brazil in the Round of 16 (assuming Brazil finish top of their group).

Re: Group F Discussion
To a man Germany were awful. Ozil the usual target on these shores but Kroos made next to no impact on the game, Werner wasteful, Khedira offered no protection and Boateng was in headless chicken mode.

The timing of a VAR decision is beyond a joke.

Re: Group F Discussion
Being more of a Rugby League fan, am used to seeing decisions take 2/3 mins to be decided so no surprise really.
The game itself was awful, South Korea only turned up for the last 4 mins. And what's the point of having a 6ft 5 center forward if your not going to cross the ball, they were even taking corners short.
Groups set up well though, Sweden can now sit back in there remaining games and try and hit on the counter attack. Mexico can just go all out attack, and Germany can't afford to not perform.

I just hope Sweden can somehow get a result against Germany on Saturday. Not sure they have the speed to hurt the Germans though.

Re: Group F Discussion
Is Germany going to be the first major team to exit the tournament? Pundits are saying the German midfield are too slow - and are maybe an example of a team that has just passed its sell by date and needs freshening up with young legs. But maybe Sweden are not the team to exploit those apparent weaknesses. Argentina if they beat Nigeria should get out of the group stage (as runners-up) - as it is unlikely Iceland will beat Croatia.

If I've learnt anything from this World Cup it's the amount of surprises that have occurred.
If Argentina can lose then maybe, just maybe, Germany can be affected. Sweden can beat Germany but they will have to bring their a game.

Well, that was a penalty. Foot across, misses ball, and push in back.

Re: Group F Discussion
It was one of those I'd happily see them stick to the refs initial call. Was probably a pen, but a pretty soft one.

German defending is worst than Arsenal and they didn't even select the biggest clown Mustafi.
Boateng legs are gone and Rudiger is mediocre as best

Germany look slow, leaving Sane at home looks a big call.
Kroos might be Germanys most disappointing player at this tournament so far.

Re: Group F Discussion
Germany suffered same way Spain did after continued success, had a system which got the best out of great players and worked....as those players have aged and success continued the system/style of play slowed and it doesn't work now.
They played possession football but it was with tempo and some directness..now it's all one paced with one too many passes in the final third.

Re: Group F Discussion
Biggest surprise is just how poor Germany have been defensively, against 2 very different sides

Re: Group F Discussion
Draxler does nothing.....thought Brandt looked good when he came on against Mexico. Pace to burn and runs at players which they need
Re: Group F Discussion
Those who say that Germany are slow in some areas, I'd agree. That alone will open opportunity for the Swedes to score.
No doubt the Germans will come back a bit stronger and try to equal then lead.

Re: Group F Discussion
When you play a largely possession based style you need a target man to hold up the ball. Surprise surprise Gomez comes on and they score.

10 minutes for Germany to realistically save their world cup. Draw would suit Mexico and Sweden happily.

And this clown Boateng is being branded as a £55m transfer target for Mourinho. Beggars belief

Germany down to ten men. If this stays a draw then a Mexico - Sweden draw will see Mexico finishing top and Sweden second, no matter what Germany do against South Korea.

Doubt Sweden will be happy to settle for a point in that final game. Come second and you face Brazil. Win the group and you face Switzerland.
