SkyBet Championship 2018/19 Thread - Tom Ince stars in Groundhog Day
Looks a really open season this year, with Stoke the only team guaranteed promotion due to having Tom Ince.

Leeds' year, finally.
Derby 2nd. Bristol City through the play-offs. Hope Bolton and Millwall have a good time.
Should be a great season.

Stoke are kinda a wait and see for me. Rowett went from punching above his weight to kinda around/slightly below par at Derby when he had players to compete and money to spend.
Villa have implosion and Bruce sacked in October written all over them. Need a fast start or I suspect it'll spiral, still more sales to come.
Swansea just don't really strike me as a powerhouse in this division. Manager decision was a real left field call.

I don't fancy Stoke at all, think they've made a bunch of very expensive very average signings and like GSC I'm not sure Rowett is all that as a manager.
WBA/Swansea strike me as a rebuilding year, then push next season type personally. Not sure either have their house in order enough yet.
As for Norwich, I think we'll be around 10th-13th similar to last season

Decent start to the season for Boro. Could this be the season Pulis makes everything click and turns us into a force to be reckoned with? If he can eliminate our traditional Achilles' heel (consistency) I can see us being in the mix for automatic promotion. Its been bloody annoying, not knowing which Boro will turn up on any given weekend.
Still, looks like being stiff competition from Leeds, Villa & Swansea.

Got smashed 4-1 by Leeds, now 2-0 down to Millwall inside 19 minutes = Super Frank's honeymoon is over.

If he doesn't manage to turn it around pretty quick I can see him following McLaren to collect his P45 (QPR annihilated 7-1 at West Brom today).
Good result against Bristol today to keep us top of the table. Can't recall the last time Boro started a season this well.

Re: SkyBet Championship 2018/19 Thread - Tom Ince stars in Groundhog Day
Fantastic start to the season. Playing well without being enthralling but we are solid and seem to have the Pulis fundamentals down to a tee now. We haven't had the easiest of fixtures to start with, despite what the table says about our opposition...4 points away to Millwall and Bristol ill take and we have shown we can take teams apart when they come onto us (Sheff Utd) and can win with some grit and will (Birmingham).
Like Pulis I would worry that we are very light essentially across the entire park; CB, CM, 2x wide men and a striker. Hopefully we can cover two of those areas at least with some good loan signings yet I feel confident we can also establish another youngster this season (a habit we have whenever one departs another comes through)
West Brom are clicking into gear it feels like and Leeds certainly seem to be more than capable for a sustained push this year (though they could implode at any moment such is the Leeds way). Will be an interesting season thats for sure...lets just hope for a happy ending for the Boro.

It's probably more QPR being terrible than West Brom tbf, they were dire against us last week

Disappointing not to get the win against 10
Men Ipswich. Again though another error for their goal.
Our knew keepers look terrible early on. They need to improve ASAP.

Left it late again, but a deserving point.
Kodjia finding form at the right time.
El Ghazi signed and Bolasie hopefully signing tomorrow, looking good for the season. Area of concern is still defence. Still a bit shakey.
Nyland has a decent game, hopefully get some confidence.

Good win on Tuesday at Rotherham. And much needed after last Saturday result. Finally Adkins picked the right team, still think it's going to be a struggle this year.
And will continue to be until the Allams finally leave.

Well we were playing a team that just got relegated. I never expected it to be easy. Sometimes you just have to grind out results. Given the way we've played in previous seasons (loads of possession but doing nothing with it) its quite refreshing to see we can let the other side have most of the ball but still get a result.
But yeah - a very forgettable game.

Probably need someone for their reserve team.
Seriously though he could well do brilliantly for them. Lots of foreign players seem to feel happier playing on the continent. Different culture etc.

Another poor defeat (though on the bright side wasn't as bad as the league cup game to Derby).
Until we can get rid of Elhab Allam and his money grabbing ways. We are going to continue to struggle. Fear for us this season.

Not sure why you'd sack Bruce to go slightly upmarket Bruce.

You watch Middlesbrough under Pulis and think “what’s the point”
5-4-1 at home - even if you go up it’s just gonna be straight back down under Pulis ball

Great win yesterday. Derby are in decent form to.
Also a good score line, should have been more. Great to get a clean sheet to.
Terry getting one over his buddy Frank. (Kind of).
Hopefully we can push up the table now.
Blues at home next up.
Should be a good game, they’re in decent form to.

Good win after Sunday.
Have criticised Nyland all season, but fair play to him today. Saved us with penalty save.
Just having a chat on injury time, I’d be a fan if they triled the ref stopping the clock for free kicks and subs, doubt that would happen though.
Anyway onto Preston Saturday, hopefully end 2018 with 3 points.

2019 starts with a frustrating result. Needed the 3 points.
5 off 6th.
QPR time wasting so much. Taking the ball into the corner at 2-2, why not try for the win. Negative and dull.
Frustrating start to the year.
Onto Wigan next week.
Going to that game so hopefully 3 points.
We just don’t see at it at the moment.
Missing young Jack big time.

Real grim - we've done what Forest Green have done, with Remi Matthews (but made less of a deal of it, because we can absorb the costs I presume). Big fan protest planned for their Sky game against WBA on the 21st I think
