You get all excited for the first game of the season then realise its a Simon Grayson team vs a Gary Rowett team

Good point at Fulham first day - considering all our injuries and new players - hoping for playoffs, mildly optimistic

tbh, wasn't expecting anything else for Villa. Elmohamady, Samba, Terry & Whelan was the wrong direction to go down. Needed some real energy & some proven EFL players joining that squad.

Elmohamady is good at this level.
Rest reads like a Harry Redknapp shortlist

Re: SkyBet 2017-18 Championship Thread - The Steve Bruce Pension Scheme
Early days but Barrie McKay continues to look a bargain. Comfortably outshining Clough. End product inconsistent but scares defenders everytime hes on the ball in space.
Bouchalakis probably the biggest difference to last weeks display, even apart from his goals. Shielded well, mobile and comfortable on the ball in deeper positions. Not bad for a freebie because Olympiakos didn't want him.
Daryl Murphy obviously a downgrade to Britt but the team in general functions better with his hold up play.
Jordan Smith a very good shot stopped but continues to have at least one moment a match where he will attempt to play out and almost concede a goal as a result. Defense in general kinda shaky but where they were abysmal last week, chalking this week up to Brentford being really good in general. Issue last week was team selection.

Probably our best performance of the 3 games against the worst side and we lose. Thats football I guess, luck had to even out eventually

Abel Hernandez out for 6-9 months with a cruciate. It's this kind of thing that makes having the window open at this time sensible.

Gonna be missed, as at this level he's a goalscorer and we don't have many of them. Considering that upheaval at the club, solid start don't expect us to be in the play offs, but a top half Finnish would be nice.
Aso for your point about the window. The argument is if the the window was shut, you'd already have the cover.

Hull wouldn't have got cover in because they had a fully fit Hernandez before season started no point going out buying another forward when you don't need one.

And if Hernandez got injured the day after the window closes now, what then.

Fair point.
There are arguments for and against. I just think that if you have the window from June til August the 1st, and you don't have the back up tough. After all that's why most clubs have squads of 25 players. So that there is cover, but if you haven't used your youngesters, never no they might surprise.

Bottom of the league.
Going up tomorrow. Not seen us lose against Norwich. Hopefully it will continue.

"Suddenly four or five of them disappeared and we didn't see them in the second half. We didn't win any battles and in the end it wasn't good enough.
"I need to change a lot of them because they are not good enough for Birmingham City. This is a fantastic football club and if it's the last thing I do in football I will give their fans a good team."
Good ol Arry

Good win yesterday.
Bossed the first half and took a 1-0 lead into half time. Vaughans injury and Boro bringing on Traore changed the game and we were hanging on for most of the 2nd.
Shoutout to Britt for missing 3 sitters.

First half was best I've seen us play in a good while. Could have been 4 up at half time.
Davis was good up front, held the ball up well.
Pleased for Hourihane, good player.
Olly, I liked the look off Murphy on the left.
Looked very dangerous when he had the ball.
We're up and running. Hopefully we can pick up a few more wins now and get up near the top of the table.

Yeah Josh is a quality prospect before last season actually considered higher than Jacob who got the big move this summer, so hopefully he's now beginning to deliver on that hype

A point on the road I guess. An improvement.
Poor free kick that lead to their goal. Ours was a bit lucky though.
Good squad and hopefully some wins on the horizon.
No easy games.

Got to say, that after the window I'm feeling more confident about the season. Only got 3 on loan (and all from Chelsea? Must be in competition with Arnaheim). And bought in some solid players for this division with Hector (loan), Kevin Stewart, Seb Larsson, Jackson Irvine & Nouha Dicko being goodles signings. Now just got to find some awayears form and we'd be laughing.

Yeah, that optimism didn't even last till half time. Shocking defending (seriously that how Chelsea teach players to defend!), lack of effort. And just around poor. Derby looked okay hard to tell with how we played. Not looking forward to Tuesday and Fulham away.
