6N 2019: France v Scotland
First topic message reminder :
Saturday 23rd Feb 2019
Stade de France
KO 14:15
France
Scotland
After two opening losses for France and a home loss for Scotland, both teams are looking to get their tournament back on track. Expect a response or implosion from France at home but also expect the same from Scotland.
This could be interesting.

Sin-bin soon. France have already 'lost' the referee.
10-3, game on.

Not that we have much choice but I Really don’t think Kinghorn is anywhere near the standard expected of an international class rugby player yet.
Huget to the bin. Need points here.

Re: 6N 2019: France v Scotland
A bit like the Wales game, I wouldn't be too worried about this for Scotland (appreciate that's easy to say when a neutral).
Scotland look infinitely better as a cohesive team. They also have dangerous runners - the back 3 could cut them open at will.
I'd expect Scotland to be battering France in the final 20. The only fear is if Scotland are too tired, and lack the physical power, the get the momentum through the phases. They're having to work hard already but I still think Scotland should take this by 7-10 points.

That would have been a terrible one for Scotland to concede.

Re: 6N 2019: France v Scotland
Good finish tbf. Maybe 3-5 rather than 7-10...
EDIT: Getting a bit lucky here. That's 5, probably 12, points brought back due to knock-ons.
Scotland need to exploit the breaks they're making. Kinghorn looks like a great runner.

Yet it was something players have been getting away with in the first two rounds.
Also I noticed that while the ref told Guirardo it was a final warning he did not seem to relay that to his team.

Don't worry, lads. France will forget what they're on the pitch for 2nd half.

Do we actually have a gameplay today that isn't just hoping the French manage to beat themselves again?

Scotland have been poor so far.
- Not much attacking threat.

He’s not the only one that needs hooked. Laidlaw is utter dross and Kinghorn is a liability.

Their tactics are probably such that they're happy to give away penalties, even players off for 10 minutes, if it means they stop Scotland getting quick ball? Maybe? Maybe that, rather than collective incompetence...!?

Apparently yes, we're planning to kick long and not bother to chase it

Absolutely love a dummy maul. Remember the one NZ scored against the Wallabies? Unfortunately it just led to a box kick, but still...love a dummy maul.

We’ve got no one to blame here but ourselves.
No kick chase. Lineout a shambles. Back play non existent

Ritchie's quality. Wonder what he'd be like in a more powerful Scottish pack. Looks excellent.

Re: 6N 2019: France v Scotland
Same as the Irish game for Scotland. Well in the match, every chance of winning it, but lots of basic errors stifling any momentum they get.
But it'll be ok, a different French team comes out in the second half.

I'll take that scoreline - we've been rotten.
Hopefully France have the same halftime teamtalk they had against Wales!

Re: 6N 2019: France v Scotland
One thing that's heartening for Scotland - an offsets the French power and the fact they look good in attack - is that their defensive line is an absolute joke. It's worth having a look at it when the camera pans out but if Scotland can string a few phases together there will be mismatches and huge gaps to exploit.

I would like to see Hastings and Price get a good 20 mins in the second half, Horne is just not creating anything

Some very good play in the first half by France. It was almost like looking at France of the g old old days. Scotland don't look like
Scotland at the moment. very up and down from them so far.
Lets hope the second half is just as exciting.

Why are people sounding hopeful? All season we’ve been worse in the second half than the first. And if that pattern continues today then my god it will be an bad second half

We're desperately lacking spark - luckily we have Darcy Graham on the bench who has it in bucket loads - let's get him on early. Both wingers have looked flat.
I'd get Toolis on earlier than usual too to solidify the lineout.

Agreed, Toonie needs to use the bench effectively this weekend, we do have a few cards to play there

He'll have a huge decision to make on whether to stick with Horne. I suspect he'll see how the next 10 goes.
