Hickey not a bad option to come off the bench 10 points up - his form has been guff lately though

Nice of the forwards to give the backs the ball when they'd taken away all their space and let the defence organise themselves...

Fair play Darcy Graham. Don't let him mug you off like that and taking on three of them too.

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
For a small guy, Darcy Graham gets involved in a lot of fights!
If they had gone wide earlier in that move, they would have scored. Not in Edinburgh DNA unfortunately

Ref might as well give the penalty and not play advantage - we're not going to score in open play!

Fair play, Edinburgh look a massive outfit that do what they do really well, but it makes me feel a little ill that this mob beat us twice.

What worries me is there's still 18 minutes left - plenty time for Edinburgh to mess this up

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
Not a good sign for Leinster with Ireland being so poor the last few weeks and the second string not producing anything close to the goods tonight. If they play like this next week it might get very uncomfortable for them.

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
Good win for Edinburgh, other than the first 15 mins, they were comfortably on top the rest of game.
They do need a bit more variety though, VDM did not touch the ball once. Darcy did, but only because he goes to find it!

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
Huge won for Edinburgh - that's only Leinster's 3rd loss in the league and their first of 2019.
Massive to get a BP too and it's made even better by Scarlets and Treviso getting 0 points.
Major positive to get Barclay and Scott beck - Barclay in particular made a huge difference.

Typical Welsh ref - knows nothing about the game except to give the home side every decision.

I see the massive amount of South Africans your team has signed is having an effect on you. You'll be getting some steaks on the brai next.

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
Barclay definitely added something, a bit of intelligence you would imagine
Matt Scott not so sure about, but to be fsair the only back who looked at all lively was Graham.
If he really is 17 stone now, you do wonder what that will do to his speed off the mark

Ooooft, very punchy getting in with the ageism when your team has to play up the jumper stuff vs Leinster's thirds.

Precisely. It was a mournful dirge of a game.

To be honest I was just in the business of winding up Flounder with that post. The truth is Leinster are blessed with perhaps the finest squad in club rugby, and even the second and third string are excellent so whomever does beat them deserves plaudits.
Edinburgh will need to learn how to unleash their backs because they're no mugs there - Graham and VDM2 in particular are electric and can cause all sorts of problems when given space but they have an absolutely enormous pack and if beating up the opposition works, they're entitled to bloody well do it in my opinion.

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
I think we’re doing the team a dis-service.
The orders were clearly keep it tight and use out better pack to win the game. Next game up we’ll see the backs shifting the ball a bit more I’d think.

List of teams that have a BP win against Leinster this season:
Edinburgh
Given that Leinster only play their first team for the big games that's a huge achievement.
I really couldn't care less how we got it - we needed the win and we got it. We've actually been looking a lot better in the backs this season - look at some of the tries we've scored in Europe in particular - so it's strange they were used so little tonight. They might as well have gone for an early shower - the forwards weren't going to give them the ball!

That wouldn't have been an altogether bad idea, because it must have been past their bedtime for a lot of those Leinster players!

Re: Edinburgh vs Leinster 22nd March
Official stats confirmed - VDM didn't touch the ball all game and made 2 tackles and missed another.
Rugby really is a strange game when you compare him to say Nel who put in a huge shift in the scrums!
Hopefully we're saving all the fancy backs moves to next week. To be fair that's how the season has gone - our tactics in the league are horribly dull, and we've actually thrown the ball about in Europe.
