Happy for anyone to win as long as it's not one of the American god squad, or Woods.

Time for one of my "4 times a year visit to the bookies." Not that I've had much success. Looking for some long odds players to do well, to make the Each Way bet worth it. Because I just like their attitudes, I'm going to have some money on Eddie Pep and Poults. Anyone else doing something similar?

I would like Tiger (or a host of others) to win.
I believe Rory will win. (But I seem to say this for just about every major.)

Why did Moore and Piercy decline playing? Anyone have any insight!
Want: PH or Tiger
No idea who is going to win it!
As long as Mcilroy and Garcia don't win it that's all good but after sadly seeing Serena and Roger losing bet your house on those I don't like!

I don't really mind who wins it or who doesn't as long as someone doesn't run away with it and we get some Sunday back nine drama.
Although if the top three could be three of my six picks in Sporty's game with no other player having that combination that would be great thanks

I've just had a skim over the tee times. Call me cynical, but a five hour tee time difference between McIlroy and Woods enables us to see their every shot. Bit like the "Featured Groups" we get to see over here of US tournaments. I doubt if we will see another players every shot.

I used to sit and watch when it was on BBC from the very off on thursday.Remember one year Bob Larratt who is a local club pro now plays in The County Alliance (now 60 plus ) was something like 5 under after 6 at St Andrews at 8.30am -we were well excited.
Amazed they call it a 'draw' because its of course done with TV schedules and big name groups in mind.Best man will win.

Well I've gone and selected my "winners" for the Championship at the bookies. DeChambeau and Wallace @ 35/1; Poulter and Pepperell @ 66/1. Think I've just given my money away.

It does seem that the golf season is pretty much over after mid july. Nothing of any note left to play. I really don't like squeezing all the majors into 3 months and now 9 months until the next.

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
It's all about money now unfortunately so the PGA Tour decide. They should do away with the PGA as a major and have a major in Australia/South Africa in January. The PGA is nothing but a glorified tour event with 10% of the field qualifying by only beating fellow club pros (and I'm saying that as someone who has a mate who qualified via this route in 2013).

Since when is 15 Million Dollars .... "Nothing of any Note" ?
8 months or 9 months between Majors. That's a big deal to players but 15 Million dollars isn't?

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
Nothing of note for the general golf fans. I'm a golf fan, I will watch majors and may catch the occasional tour event, how much of it depends on who is contending.
I honestly don't really care who wins the fedex cup. The players obviously want the money. I care who wins the majors and the ryder cup. After the British open, I'm pretty much done.
Is it good for golf? To be done by mid july? Does the fedex cup generate more fans?

I have no idea why anyone wants to get rid of the pga, I do think it should have stayed in august and moved back in an Olympic year to stop a clash.

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
IMO, the FEDEX generated interest in golf in September when there was very little interest before 2007.
After September there was no other tournaments that got (nearly) all the World Class golfers playing in the same event against each other.
Prior to 2007,there were several World Class players who were not PGATour players and really ambivalent about joining the PGATour. Looking at the Top 50, I see only one (maybe two) player who has expressed no interest in PGATour membership (Pepperell, and Weisberger). Pretty sure Wallace and Fitzy will be PGATour players next year
That tells me the FEDEX Cup has been a huge success for the PGATour. Was it necessary? Not really. But as a golf fan, I am sure glad its there.

Saw Rory and his caddie up close a few times at them Scottish open and could hear some of their chat. His caddie is a dumb ass and clearly does no course prep. The guy has to go. He also seems happy to let Rory spend all day misreading putts.

Not that I'm McGinley's biggest fan (just states the obvious and talks in cliches) but he's right on this one; Rory has been consistently up there in almost every tournament he's played whereas Koepka only turns up for the Majors, not that that's necessarily a bad thing, and he performs amazingly in them.
Koepka this year:
1st & 2 2nds in the Majors, only 2 other top 10's, 6 finishes of 50th or worse & 1 MC; OWGR points: 256.51 (203.33 of these in 3 major appearances)
Rory this year:
21st, 9th & 8th in the Majors, 2 wins, 7 other top 10's and only 3 times out of the top 10 (the masters, his only MC at memorial and 34th in last week's scottish open), OWGR points: 276.43 (33.04 from the 3 majors)

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
Clearly a matter of opinion about the way the season has become compressed, but one thing I can't comprehend is why the PGA Tour is convinced it has to play second fiddle to the NFL.
The Premier League attracts more global attention than the NFL will ever do, but happy to see the European Tour seems quite content to go up against it.
And: When money dictates which event is most important to the players, the game is lost.
On a related note, haven't yet seen the runners and riders for the Memphis WGC, or any word of defections. They seem to have got a favourable forecast with temps 85F - 90F and little likelihood of heavy rain. I was hoping for 95F - 105F.

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
I don't know what Weisberger's PGATour aspirations are, but I do know that he is has not earned any FEX points this season, so he is not in position to join the PGATour.
Pepperell has said he has no interest in the PGATour.
Koepka has NOT been very consistent this year. He has a lot of finishes outside the Top 50 this year
http://www.owgr.com/en/Ranking/PlayerProfile.aspx?playerID=16243
IMO, Golfweek's Sagarin Golf rankings is a measurement of consistency. and they have BK as #16, Rory is #1, Cantlay #2, Dustin #3

Consistently wonderful in Majors.
