Correct decision. Great that they checked it though, after the two missed highs.

Ok....!
Let the chat go back to the match, no one is trying to personally wind you up 7.5 we just disagree with you.
Move on

Looked bad at first can understand reasoning. Glad Watson is ok, looked nasty at first

Maes, you need to look at the glaucoma comment if you are taking the no attack/insult line.

OK with that - however the earlier shoulder barge on Billy was probably a yellow and not even a pen for that ...

Makes sense king. No one can really hold some of the views you've said.

Fair point RE
It’s interesting to evaluate. As far as I saw when the ball crossed the line there was a Tongan players leg under the ball. Is that not the point when scoring happens?
If players join in and wrestle the ball to the ground after the initial crossing of the try line is it then not a scrum five but a try...?
The laws used to be far simpler, a long time ago, but if a player crossed the try line and another opposition player had hands on the ball a try was disallowed. This simplified the laws.

Apparently if you have a Tongan leg under the ball it doesn’t matter. It’s in the same appendix as the new rule about you not needing to have the ball when you cross the try line as we saw in the last match
Dont want to derail this thread but the try that best scored was perfectly fine.

As mentioned previously.
This has surprised me most so far this RWC, I think we all perceived that the laws would be stricter, I think many of us worried that the contact laws in tackling could be applied so severely that it would ruin the games and the cup as a whole.

Tonga are giving England a far better game than Scotland gave Ireland.

Yes it was. The law was explained pretty clearly during the game.

Indeed, players seem to have adapted. But there’s bound to be a clanger soon, there’s been too many games without head contact and cards issued.maestegmafia wrote:WELL-PAST-IT wrote:majesticimperialman wrote:Right decision.WELL-PAST-IT wrote:good decision

Good Ref so far, as for England just be patient lads the tries
will come, but you've still got to earn it.

England are cruising and could, if they wanted, demolish Tonga

Re: England vs Tonga match thread
Tonga were huge in defence in first 40, but offered nothing in attack. Second 40 could be interesting.

The crux of this is the interpretation of having the ball and not control.
To me and a good few others it looked like the Scots number eight Wilson had ripped the ball from Best. Therefor no try. Very fast call by Barnes no TMO.

Surprised they didn’t opt for the line out and go for the seven points. England look safely in control of this one

Is it me, or are Tonga starting to make a number of off the ball hits?

Re: England vs Tonga match thread
Tongan number 8 obstructed an English player joining the ruck, ref gave penalty and explained the reason as you made contact with the white player. I was making (a poor one as it turns out) a joke on the phrasing since Tonga used to be a British protectorate

Heaf, you need to do better with opening your eyes, the tackle was a good hit, put the Tongan on his backsideHeaf wrote:ebop wrote:Heaf, the tackle on Billy Vunipola the Tongan was fineHeaf wrote:LondonTiger wrote:Williams got the Kalamafoni/Watson decision 100% correct.

Slade on for May?
So Slade to the wing?
Lovely running by Slade there. Unfortunately looking a bit tight after his break
