SURREY VS KENT BOB WILLIS TROPHY
First topic message reminder :
SURREY HAVE NAMED A SQUAD OF TWELVE FOR TOMORROW’S BOB WILLIS TROPHY CLASH WITH KENT AT THE KIA OVAL – FEATURING WICKET KEEPER BEN FOAKES FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SUMMER.
There is also a return for Adam Finch, on loan from Worcestershire, who missed last weekend’s game at Arundel with a slight thigh strain.
Rory Burns, Sam Curran and Ollie Pope are all playing in the ongoing Test with Pakistan, whilst Jason Roy, Tom Curran and Reece Topley are all going back into the ‘bubble’ ahead of England’s upcoming One Day commitments.
Jordan Clark, Liam Plunkett, Nicholas Kimber and Jade Dernbach remain on the sidelines.
Gus Atkinson has been rested after playing back to back to games in recent weeks.
There is no place in the squad for Daniel Moriarty or James Taylor
Full Squad:
Scott Borthwick
Rikki Clarke
Matt Dunn
Laurie Evans
Adam Finch
Ben Foakes (wk)
Will Jacks
Morne Morkel
Ryan Patel
Jamie Smith
Mark Stoneman
Amar Virdi
Interestingly no captain named for this game, wonder if they toss a coin in the changing room before the start
It looks like it comes down to a straight choice between Dunn and Patel for this one, for me it would be Patel but with Rikki coming in at 7 does that make the tail too long so maybe sadly for Guildford it could by Dunn.
Over to you chaps

Don't think it's the worst thing we're not having a bat tonight, looking at the conditions in which the 9th Kent wicket was picked up!

Re: SURREY VS KENT BOB WILLIS TROPHY
Early lunch. Hoping to start at 1 o'clock. Bl**dy good work if they manage that!
Was hardly around yesterday but seems like a good effort - and especially by Clarke - to pull things back. Even if the weather allows, still not going to be easy to knock off around 200 in the final dig. Having less overs to bat may work in our favour, allowing the likes of Jacks and Evans to play their natural attacking game and go for it.

Surrey already two down after two overs, chasing an unlikely 192 to win.
Would agree that it was a fantastic effort from the groundstaff to get playable conditions.

77/4 off 20. Laurie on 41 and ticking. Foakes riding shotgun on 14.
Evans is a bit like Roy. Time at the crease guarantees runs.

Yeah, that was a jinx and a half! Sorry!!
About 115 more needed with just 5 wickets left. A heck of a lot now resting on these two plus perhaps Clarke. Don't see many from Finch, Dunn and Virdi.

Surrey seem to be making a game bid to win this ? Foakes having a pretty good match by the look of it.

When your top four make 79-8 across both innings, not gonna win many games

So many deciding factors the top order not performing yet again
letting Kent get to 342 when we had them at 170 for 6
and as Gooch pointed out yesterday why the hell did Stoneman keep Dunn on when he was going at 4.50

I was only going to refer to us being 20/4 in the second dig but Olly makes the point more forcibly across the match.
Great game by Foakes which shows most of the others up even more.

Re: SURREY VS KENT BOB WILLIS TROPHY
Foakes, Curran and Clarke made us competitive in this game, but there's too many just making up the numbers, obviously Burns, Pope, Roy, T.Curran are big losses, but we just don't seem to have the back up, I thought Stoneman and Borthwick would do well, but they keep proving me wrong, and who the hell thought Plunkett and Clark would help need their heads testing!
