Cardiff's Re-rebrand
First topic message reminder :
As the last thread got locked, maybe this is the place to note how well the re-rebrand is going.
Season ticket sales up 35%, corporate backing up, the traditional jersey sold out within days of launching.
The Foundation continuing to do sterling work through the development pathway, the Age Grade & Academy working throughout the pathway and even moving into u14 coaching in partnership with Rhondda Schools Rugby.
Next season will see a quartered jersey, too. And, with a wee bit of luck, the return of the club badge to the First Team and the Rags known formally as Cardiff Athletic.

Cardiff won’t be playing Rugby for a while.
Stuck in SA with two positive test, one of which is the new variant, having to isolate.
The Toulouse game must be doubtful now, as they would have to isolate when returning from SA

Cardiff intend to face Toulouse with a whopping 32 players unavaiable. What could possibly go wrong....

Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
They’ve asked me to play!
But seriously, don’t teams need to register a list of names of their European squad each season and stick to that list? Or is that football? If they don’t need to do that I guess they could select anyone, including those from other regions???

Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
Pre Covid teams had to provide a list of players and were allowed a small number of changes (3 I think)
No idea if it changed last year

Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
You arr both right, have to submit a squad list of name think it was about 30, and when reached knock outs could change 3 of them.
However Munster were and Cardiff will be seeking an exception given the circumstances. Munster were orginally planning on getting loan signings to make a squad. I guess the ERC would have allowed others players from other provinces not already registered for european games. Any ideas if Cardiff will do the same with other regions players that aren't registered for Europe?

Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
Clubs can register 5 extra players (3 must be front row) to replace existing members of their squad in the pool stage.

Is that just a pre-covid regulation though? I wonder if covid will allow more flexibility. I can't imagine Cardiff would have had those academy players they're talking about already on the list for Europe this year. So maybe they're applying for an exception due to the circumstances.
Doesn't sound like they're going outside the 'region' anyway - going to be a mixture of Cardiff's Wales internationals who couldn't travel, some returning from injury who didn't travel and a load of academy boys.

Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
Scarlets have asked Ospreys if they can loan some players for their fixture vs Bristol. Some good points from Scarlets chairman:

Nothing.
It all went brilliantly.

Praise for the club from all over the world.

Thanks.
Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
Those were really good positives to take away, but the result was a disaster as expected. It also seems it put a few of your guys in the shop window, like the one heading to Wasps.

The one heading to Wasps didn't play in that game.
And the result wasn't a disaster at all.
And that sums things up nicely.

You're right, that's a disaster for Sky as they can't even get right the team name.
Much like it was a disaster for you with the silly comment about Wasps.
For the club, however, biggest crowd in Wales this season, a club galvanised, standing ovations for the youngsters involved and valuable experienced gained.
And global praise for not taking the coward's option of calling off the game.
10,107 in attendance. More than three times the Drags got for their pasting by Lyon the weekend after.
Re: Cardiff's Re-rebrand
The biggest disaster is still the result, despite your constant moving of the goal posts. People are bored of you now.

I'm sure both you, Mikey, are bored.
The result was very much secondary to the event and the event was an overwhelming positive. Imagine getting a crowd that would not even fit inside Rodney Parade?
