That looked really nasty on FB in real time, seems to have got away with it fortunately. Skinner a bit lucky not to get pinged for that.

It's getting a bit sloppy. Second half isn't quite matching the first.

Agree. Real time I thought Skinner could be in trouble.

Looked a forward pass on the replay. Still, Jordan is great ball in hand.

It was 50/50 for me. He did step in, but had a split second to work with.
Duhan off now. I fancy momentum is with Glasgow now.

We've fallen apart here. Much credit to Glasgow who have erupted into life, but Edinburgh look all over the shop.

There have been some terrific performances from some Glasgow players
Jordan has been right up there, you'd have to say Glasgow best FH atm

I jest. I have no quibbles over the scoreline or result. Glasgow have been excellent in the second half and we haven't been able to match it.

I dont know. That missed tackle on Steyn in the first half was grim, and he just gets knocked about.

Well bad luck Edinburgh, but you have the consolation of being beaten by a better side on the night (and most nights to be fair!)
It is an 80 minute game, well worth remembering that.
Glasgow look like a team on a roll and on the up, Franco is doing a job.
Edinburgh look a little lost atm and need to get their mojo back asap

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 29 - Buckfast & Bollinger
I honestly thought Seaman was in front of Shona when the kick went through before Hornito's try.
I'm fairly sure the ref is the lovechild of Clownshoes and Liz Truss.
If we were picking a composite side right now...???
Glasgow back row
Hornito and Jordan
Stafford was better than Lang
Wee Shona
Smith
We can debate the other positions at FES' leisure.
Oh and the ref was honking.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 29 - Buckfast & Bollinger
We need our spark back. That means Vellacott or Shiel at 9, and Graham, Immelman and Goosen back fit to give us back three spark and depth. We also need Schomann and McInally back in form in the front row. Too many big players missing and out of form.
Warriors are coming together nicely I must say. Scrum needs to improve, and you switched off in the first half at times. I think Horne should go ahead of Price (who was poor), and you need to find a better player than McDowall at 12 (although having Sam Johnson and Huw Jones waiting in the wings is handy). I'd also like to see more game management from Jordan. So exciting ball in hand, but needs to learn how to vary his game.

I think Stafford is playing to the gameplan. His defence is solid and he makes hard yards. Glasgow have the fastest ruck speed in the league and this means Stafford pulls in defenders and Shona eventually gets quick ball with space and men over.
Stafford had the game Blair wanted Lang to have.

Worryingly from an Edinburgh and Scotland perspective Mabawza is fading somewhat in these bigger games.
Lucky to not have been pinged at least 3 times in the last 20 for coming in at the side or going back for second helpings at rucks when told to leave it by the guy/ girl/ it self identifying as a rugby referee.

Blair admitting he's not getting the best out t of the players just now. Rare to see such honesty from a coach, but it's true!
With the amount of investment in the Edinburgh squad just now the pressure is quickly building up on him.
Thank feck we have zebre at home next!

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 29 - Buckfast & Bollinger
Not going to lie, this game was a massive step up in entertainment from last week which I had to endure in the cold and wet stadium. That game went in the gash folder of my mind despite all the pundits claiming how great a game it was.
This week however was much better although I’m not sure why each team only decided to play for one half. Was a very odd seesaw match.
I had previously been I bit disparaging about Tuipolotu but he has been bang on form and very impressive last couple of outings. 13 shirt being his for the 6 n I would think. I can see why Jamie Ritchie gets the treatment from every side he plays. He is a very posh Ryan Wilson.
Edinburghs backs were just terrible and most will have played themselves out of contention for the big tournie.
Crosbie was great, but other than him I’m not sure anyone else really put their hand up for Toonie. If only Vialamu was as Scottish as Tuipolotu.

Like casually mentioning you bought a copy of The Bg Issue from FES outside Haymarket station. (He's had a pitch there every Thursday since the Banking collapse of 2010.)

Heuer27 says that
Mbawza = A very posh Ryan Wilson
Everyone knows that Batman lives in a mansion, inherited his wealth, has a butler, drives a really expensive personalised sports car, has a mansion and a keeps a " boy wonder" companion who dresses up in body hugging outfits. We're talking real 1922 Committee Tory MP stuff here.
Mbawza's lifestyle must be on a par with FES if he's a very posh version of that.
No wonder The Luvvies are useless; once they've paid Mbawza's salary they've no money for any decent players.

It's probably no coincidence that Edinburgh's attack has faltered of late after Darcy Graham's injury. He is such a spark in the team that it's clear that our 'nornal' attacking play obviously isn't actually any good. That's Blair's challenge, particularly with relatively stodgy midfielders in the team (Bennett aside).

Bennett, f course, still retains residual Weegieness. Enough to make him a decent player, but sadly not enough to push him into Toonie's reckoning.

You kind of feel that Bennett's career at both clubs has been slightly derailed by his injuries and that has stopped him from being the best Scottish centre of his generation, it;s a hugh shame but that is professional sport and at least he has had many highlights to go with the bad times.
With the form of Tuipolotu and Jones and the ever steadiness of Harris, it is hard to see him getting into the Scotland team now.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 29 - Buckfast & Bollinger
Happy New Year all!
It’s already off a strange start with Glasgow winning the 1872 cup but at least the injury list is not too bad. It’s pretty crazy to think Bennet has been at Edinburgh longer than Glasgow. On the whole his best days have been at Glasgow but his consistency of performance has made him an important player for Edinburgh even if he’s lost his messiah tagline. I agree with BG that it’s hard to see him making the starting lineup for Scotland without injuries. He is an older player now. I think Jones should have been the player Ringrose is for Leinster and Ireland. It’s a shame he wasn’t given the consistency of game time at Glasgow during Rennies tenure especially as Grigg has moved on and Jones is still looking for international honours.
As these games are usually a trial for the 6N squad selection and Glasgow managed to win the cup there could well be a fairly balanced 1/3 Glas, 1/3 Ed and 1/3 non Scots club players this year. Stormers will be a significant test but I hope Glasgow can pull off a home win.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 29 - Buckfast & Bollinger
Just thinking about the 6N from the yardy gangland cesspit that is Tunbridge Wells.
Just like many part of Glasgow, there is a vintage car showroom across the road from our hotel. My mate whose hobby it is tells me that the Aston DB4 in the window is worth about 350,000 quid and the DB5 next to it is about £600,000. Never seen a place like that before. Not a town relying on food banks in general.
Anyhoo, the URC table is a very sobering read. In terms of the Scottish sides, Soapevaders on 29 points, Cashmere Cowboys on 25 points. Compare that to Leinster Robogym on 52 and Ulster on 36. If Scotland and Scotland A played their paddy counterparts tomorrow, we would get horsed in both games.
Very hard to understand our relative progress or retreat as a rugby nation. I suppose a more accurate comparison is Wales. Ospreys on 23 points, Dragons on 17, Scarlets on 13 with only Cardiff hitting out on 28. Benetton on 29 points which is both fitting and such a turnaround from when the league was created, so fair play to them. The Saffers in a polite queue for sirloin steak at the top of the table, waiting for their chance to administer a wedgie to the Dubliners.
A fair reflection of each nation in general?
