SURREY VS HAMPSHIRE LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE 2023

Surrey have named a 14-player squad for the LV=Insurance County Championship game for the visit of Hampshire starting on Thursday 13th April.
Sam Curran, Chris Jordan and Jason Roy are all at the IPL.
Tom Curran (stress fracture) Will Jacks (thigh) and Jamie Overton also (stress fracture) will be unavailable for the foreseeable future.
There is no place in the squad for James Taylor or Amir Virdi and Dan Moriarty has been left out from the squad that travelled to Manchester last week.
Connor McKerr has joined Kent on loan for two championship games.

probably stick with the same eleven for this game and maybe give a couple of the bowlers a rest at Edgbaston.
Sadly Surrey will not be using churchy on the YouTube channel this season and instead are using the clowns they had for the T20 campaign.

Agree with you about it being the same Surrey eleven although there's a chance that Lawes could come in for Patel who scored 3 and 0 at Old Trafford and didn't bowl.

Hants have named a 12 man squad. Expect them to go with the same team which comfortably beat Notts last week which would mean young batter Prest misses out. As Duty and I have mentioned recently on the Championship thread, they've got a strong and experienced seam attack including one of my favourites, Keith 'Ronnie' Barker.

A handy loan move for McKerr and Kent, I reckon. He's a bit down the pecking order at Surrey whilst Kent need to bolster their bowling imo despite their opening win against Northants. Northants also need to strengthen their resources and so I wouldn't be amazed if they also came calling sometime. 

What's going on with Churchy? Is he still on the radio?

Couldn't make it to the Oval today but 20 odd miles south of the ground it's sunny atm with the clouds pretty high - bat first on winning the toss seemed the right decision although Surrey have the best of the opening overs. Organ and Gubbins both back in the hutch, falling to Roach. Vince off to a characteristically breezy start (18 off 22) but can he go on? Middleton providing solid support with 10 off 26. Currently 38/2 off 12.

PS The answer to my question above is a resounding NO as Abbott gets Vince with his first delivery!

JimBob - understand what you mean about the comms on YouTube. Caught the last half hour of the opening session - no idea who they were but they sounded like a couple of schoolkids on work experience for the Easter hols. 

Anyway, our morning by some distance. Hants 98/5 off 30 with the wickets largely shared round.

Brown and Barker added handy runs and caused some frustration for Surrey's bowlers but still a good day for the Oval outfit. Even more so after Burns and Sibley safely saw out the final 14 overs of the day. If we had lost 1 or 2 wickets, that would have gone some way towards levelling things up.

I was planning to go tomorrow but the forecast seems dodgy.

Gave the Oval a miss today. The right call as regards this morning's play anyway. Just 6.3 overs bowled for a measly 5 runs without loss. Doesn't seem like JimBob will be feasting on too many batting points!
