Surrey have named a 12 man squad for the LV=Insurance County Championship game against Hampshire starting on Friday at the kia oval.
Ollie Pope and Gus Atkinson return to the fold this week.
Tom Lawes is unavailable due to a heel injury sustained in the victory against Kent.
Ben Foakes misses out as part of the ECB workload management of centrally contracted players.
Jamie Overton sadly remains on the treatment table.

Agree McKerr to miss out, interesting to see Foakes rested - I think a lot of people had assumed England would move on from him this Summer, but at the least that decision can't have been already made.

Thanks for the thread, JimBob. Was away yesterday but at the Oval today.

An engrossing day's cricket. Very green wicket with a lot of carry which the bowlers - all seamers - of both sides exploited well. Abbas was the pick of the crop for me, only one wicket but consistently threatening and miserly.

Commendable resolution and graft from Burns to bat through from mid afternoon to stumps. That and the 75 he put on with Patel (who made a valuable 41) put us ahead atm in my book. However, the weather over the weekend will probably need to be better than forecast for there to be a positive result.

Cheers jimbob. From 44-4 a magnificent effort, firstly by Burns and then by Clark to get us to 3 batting points and a 200+ lead, just need the weather to play ball and give us a chance to hopefully bowl Hants out

Spot on, Goochie.

Also, although I'm no fan of the night watchman role, I'll readily acknowledge that Roach played his part well in the morning to support his skipper and frustrate the Hants seamers. I did feel Vince should have mixed things up in that first session and let Dawson have a bowl at Roach.

Weather doesn't look good for today but tomorrow should be fine.

I didn't know about the intended 3.50 start. Just as well!

Apparently the new electric roller vehicle broke down on the pitch and had to be pushed off by the old petrol motored vehicle.

All said and done, a very professional performance, Worrall just seems to get better, and does Pope catch it at second slip!!

Great win. I even popped along this morning for a very pleasant two hours of cricket. Never really in doubt and especially once Worrall got Dawson very early. In line with Goochie's post, Pope could have caught swallows in this game!

I'll leave Worrall, Burns and Clark to fight it out for MOTM. However, two awards from me -
* Important Contribution Which Will Quickly Be Forgotten When The Player Is Soon Dropped Award - Ryan Patel. He went in on Friday when the ball was seaming about everywhere, 14 wickets having fallen on the opening day at that time for 195 and us on 44/4. He scored 41 before falling to an Abbas grubber and was the dominant partner in a stand of 75 with Burns which got us back on top. Had Patel gone quickly making us 50/5, well who knows what would have happened next?
