First topic message reminder :

Surrey have named a 15 man squad for the opening T20 vitality blast game away to Middlesex at lords.
Sam Curran will captain the Surrey side in Chris Jordan’s absence (still at the IPL)
Jason Roy and Sunil Narine are both available  
Conor McKer has joined Nottinghamshire on a two week limited overs loan deal.
There is no place in the squad for Rory Burns, Ben Foakes, Dom Sibley or Ryan Patel.
Ollie Pope is away with England  
Tom Curran and Jamie Overton are named in the squad probably as batsmen only.
The game will be shown live on sky sports cricket.

You could see pitch was a green top, but the Surrey batsmen treated it like a road, not one of them actually thought about their batting, just big shot after failed big shot

Would be tempted to bring in Blake for Lawes but realistically he would probably come in at 10

I'd be tempted to lose Abbott, he goes for double figures every over, and his batting has been dreadful since his 1 big score

Anyone see the match last night? Were Glamorgan as poor as the figures suggest?

I'm off to Cardiff to watch Somerset play them, and a win would nail down the QF spot and go a long way towards a home QF too.

Downside, discovered Harry Styles is playing the Principality tonight as well, so going to be a ball ache of a journey I fear

Hi Afro - yep, I was at the Oval last night - although I had one eye on the tv in the bar showing the Ashes Test for the first half of Surrey's dig.

Surrey fired on all cylinders and took a rather ordinary attack - that's the politest I can be - apart. Jacks and Sam Curran were particularly impressive with the latter regularly clearing the ropes even with the full outfield being used. By the time Glam's openers walked to the crease, it seemed clear the game was already up. They never threatened to make a contest of it, not even momentarily. Before the end, I said to my mate with me that I felt sorry for anyone from Wales who had made the journey to cheer on their team!

Based on last night, I don't see your guys having much trouble in taking the points.

I'll leace comments about Harry Stlyles to others.

Maybe in for Abbott which will delight Gooch

Travelled early and got on the train, so journey not so bad.

Glamorgan started poorly with the bat, pulled it back in the middle thanks to Carlson, and then finished with a whimper after he was out, probably ended 20 below what would have been par.

Glamorgan bowling attack is poor though and Somerset knocked them off with ease. They were knocking it around at the end, and tbh would have chased 200+ down easily if needed.

Well done Middlesex, let's hope that's taught these arrogant thick Surrey bowlers and dope of a captain a lesson

Our specialist fielder couldn't save us this time

Had to come on here and comment after last night. How did we lose that? Why are the following playing - Steel (no 11 and not bowling - thankfully); T Curran and J Overton - the occasional good innings each but too many failures and when are either going to bowl again? Abbott - one superb innings but 232 conceded in 21 overs so far.

If I had to guess Lammonby, Goldsworthy and Bashir to miss out, but they could rest some for next Friday with the home QF already assured

I always like the look of Davey although he rarely gets any luck against us - so many chances grounded off him whenever I've watched.

I've also liked Green since I saw him in a t20 at the Oval a couple of years ago. He didn't get the opportunity to bat or bowl but gave it everything in the field taking a superb boundary catch for the first wicket and effecting a run out for the last to win the game. I believe he's doing well in this year's Blast.

A bad week at The Oval! From where I sit (at my screen) we seem to have 3 good T20 players - Jacks, Evans and Sam - and if they all don't perform then we don't win. The occasional good performance from the others but noone else really demands their place in the side. What is the latest about when Tom and Overton may bowl again ever?

Overton was bowling on the outfied Tuesday lunchtime. Leg was bandaged and he wasn't at full throttle but didn't seem that far away to getting back.

Roy added to the squad for Essex

So maybe Roy in for Lawes which will mean Jacks will have to bowl or maybe in for TC

Sean Abbott goes for his average of 14 an over, it's not like our gormless captain hasn't seen it before, wtf would you bowl him

Just the 71 in the power play, Essex players don't leave the ball in the power play like Lee Evans, or play forward defensive dot balls like Curran

If only they could all bowl like Chris Jordan that was outstanding bowling
