Well explained by Nige I thought. Ok as long as supporting own weight, and not using the hands to do so.

Christie has had a great impact so far. Depending on the rest of the half I reckon he should get a chance starting against England.

So obvious that he stopped playing after it. The clearest indicator, yet Berry missed it.

Go back to the old rule for kicks and offside

I hate when this happens. “Moaning Scot’s blame referee for those loss” but something so clear and obvious so far up the field and his insistence on playing on has completely swung the momentum of this game

Re: Scotland vs France | Auld Alliance Trophy
A game decided PURELY on the way a ref phrases a question.
And an absolutely clear and obvious french knock on which led to the french try
As they say, it’s Poopie being Scottish

No. You couldn't see the ball on the ground. Berry's on field decision did it for them. Clearly on replay everyone watching will think its probably a try but you can't give that on the video evidence ie turn over the on field decision.

It's on the ref. On field decision (his) was no try. As soon as he said that and with no clear evidence that was it.

He didn't though. Berry asked the wrong question. TMO couldn't find clear evidence, he would have to see the ball in contact with thr ground, clearly in contact. There was no footage good enough.
For the record, that was a try, Scotland you were robbed.

Scotland really should have killed the game much earlier, France were there for the taking.

I think I'm with the ref on this, if this was pre tmo that would have been just held up. There wasn't a clear enough angle.
Tbh I think we made a rod for our own backs that second half. Much a case of should've, would've, could've. Much much better than last week but France just ground that one out with sheer belligerence. Still 3 to play. Lets see if the boys can put themselves in the race to win.

sh!te way to lose a game though.
You can argue about individual moments but Scotland were not good enough in the 2nd half. France weren't much better though.

So sorry for you Scotland fans. I like both teams and not bothered really who wins, but that was a rough call. I clearly saw the ball touch the ground, no idea how that wasn't given by the TMO.

Re: Scotland vs France | Auld Alliance Trophy
I counted at least 3 terrible decisions by Berry today and that is not including the claim of a French knock on for their try - Id have to revisit that one.
Van DeMerwe was guilt of a high tackle and was offside - how he played on was beyond me
Very disappointed in Nigel Owens spouting nonsense to defend the referee.
Alldritt got injured because Berry took to long making a decision
That was a try at the end all day long.
By saying he clearly saw it held up he put the TMO in a very difficult position.
He should not have made that call

Re: Scotland vs France | Auld Alliance Trophy
VDM was defo offside but the directive around high tackles has been clarified and that is not regarded as a penalty offence, this week.
There seemed to be a knock on for the French try along with Christie being held in at the scrum.
The standard of officiating is just not up to the speed and complexity of the game these days.
However they should be catching the low hanging fruit decisions.

Aldritt was off his feet when he got injured, looked a nasty gash on his leg.
I think they need to end jackling and go back to shoving teams off the ball. And adopt the use it or lose it 5 sec policy if it’s at the back more stringently. Would also go back to as soon as a hand touches the ball it’s in play.

Yeah it was a weird decision to not take the game to France in the second half. A home game with France playing very poorly, they were there for the taking.
I really do think Toonie has taken this team as far as he can. Both games so far Scotland have wasted good first half performances to then lose the second half. Incredibly frustrating to watch as a fan as Scotland have been so wasteful yet had the players to now be sitting on 9 or even 10 points rather than 5.
England will be a really interesting challenge for this side and having Kinghorn and Graham back will help take the pressure off Russell a bit. We have missed that spark those two can provide despite admirable performances from Paterson and Rowe. Paterson is certainly one for the future, he looked comfortable at international level but needs time to develop.
