Japan made a mess of a move in their own 22m, and Italy pounced on the drop ball first foran easy score. That episode was a microcosm of the whole match.

Japan did have a try disallowed, in one of those odd decisions about whether the try scorer dropped the ball, or if he maintained contact, and applied pressure to ground it. It looked like the try was scored but the TMO disagreed.

The atmosphere during the last twenty minutes was like a morgue.

Safe to say Eddie Jones has lost his touch.

Highlights (Japanese commentary). Italy ran out to a 0-24 lead. A couple of length-of-the field tries by Riley closed the gap to 14-24 but Japan never scored again.

The disallowed try is at the 2:05 mark. I'm sure tries like that have been awarded before.
