SURREY VS SOMERSET T20 VITALITY BLAST SEMI FINAL FINALS DAY 2024

Surrey have named a 14 man squad for Vitality Blast Finals Day on Saturday 14th September at Edgbaston.
Dan Lawrence, Jamie smith and Ollie pope are available
Sadly Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton and Reece Topley are with England so will not be available
Yousef Majid is named in a T20 squad for the first time this season.
Jason Roy is chasing the money in Barbados so will not feature.
There is no place in the squad for Matt Dunn or Ryan Patel.
Gus Atkinson is on the treatment table after injuring himself playing for England.

I think if Spencer Johnson had not injured himself Abbott would have probably been in the squad
How Patel or Blake are not in the squad yet Burns and Steel are sums up everything that is wrong about this management.
If it was me Burns, Lawes and Steel would be on drink duties but sadly we know that wont be the case.

Agree with you on the 3 who should miss out but Burns will probably get in ahead of Geddes and I reckon it’ll be 50/50 between Majid and passenger Steel.
Have to hope that Somerset have been on the cider non stop since Thursday.

Be interesting to see how Somerset line up without Banton.

I did think TKC would keep and George Thomas would slot in to open, like he did when Smeed was out. However, rumours are swirling that Thomas is off to Gloucs- so isn’t in the squad. So we could see Rew come in and TKC shuffle up to open.

No overseas either for Somerset this year. Sodhi was good last year on Finals Day, and Matt Henry was a superstar all season. So will be a big ask to replace those two and Banton from last season’s triumph.

I like the look of this Somerset side. Some of the players coming in who weren’t in the Championship match are canny battlers - Green, Daveyand van der Merwe for sure.

Meanwhile, unlike many, I’m ok with Charlie Dagnall on comms but cannot stand that idiot Cork. Please reassure me though that Tudor isn’t there!

I think Somerset are the strongest side on paper in this finals day, even with the loss of Banton.

Gregory takes out two in two, including the dangerous Smith first ball, so they're definitely ahead in this one at the moment.

That was a special partnership from Rew and Dickson. 7/3 they came together, and left with the game won. Rew barely plays the format and it was Dickson's T20 best score.

They both batted very well but once Frank had finished his spell, it couldn't have been much easier. Outstandingly bad bowling from Steel, Lawrence and Jordan.
