The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub - Page 19 Empty The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub

Post by Guest Wed 15 Jun 2011, 5:21 pm

First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini

Yeah Stand, it's just off the Portaferry Road and about 10 minutes walk from Newtownards- that path heads out towards Comber. When I'm staying with my parents I walk my dog out that way- you can see Scrabo Tower in the background.

He's doing grand now lads, just grand. By comparison with yesterday and Thursday, today has been a fairly ordinary round (with some great shots). But he has kept cool and played wisely when in trouble.

I have looked at the album, Notch - lovely photees; I particularly like the sunset / sunrise ones. We get better sunrises here so I have taken loads of photos over our local lake. Always does it for me.

Kia a couple of those sunset over the water shots were taken by one of mums co-workers. So when she came into work and said "I saw your sons photo online" she was bemused.

So was I at first, then I remembered I sent that one in- I think I was actually posting some photos and talking about the Lough in the old 606 pub and Swanny sent me a link to a competition on the Strangford Lough home site. So that's where that came from zen

The lake down in the valley near us Notch is long running east west and often in the early morning there is a mist settled on the lake with the hills behind in full sun - too tempting not to photgraph. It is actually a reservoir, but looks very natural.

Have never lived anywhere for so long as here - disconcerting sometimes when I think of it, but it is one reason why I had to buy a house in Ireland some years ago - needed to feel I was "moving" without actually doing it.

No, it was the one with the ferry leaving strangford. Have to say i never really knew what was on my doorstep till a few years ago when my sis moved to crossgar. Some of the drives/views in and around county down are amazing.

Rory is doin grand. That was a great save on the last hole. Just shows how much better his game is this week by comparison to Augusta.

On another tangent, did anyone see the Bulls/Sharks game today. It was a cracker. Well worth checking the highlights

It's his mind, Stand - the game was always there, although he has tweaked his putting stroke a bit, and that has made a huge difference.

I love the drive down the Portaferry Road, down the Ards Peninsula along the shore of the Lough. Take in Mountstewart and the Temple of the Winds along the way down to Portaferry zen

Kia,
I have moved so many times, I really know and feel what you mean by that. A little bit of Heaven at "home". But, as usual, I missed the (pre Celtic-Tiger) boat.

Having said that. I could now buy my dream "home" in Kinsale - for a third of what I was quoted 3 years back.

I saw luxury thatched-cottages - in Waterford, that went on the market at E800,000. Now, you can buy 4 or 5 of them for that.

Finish it nice Rory. Just do it.

Think the area around Portaferry was one of the last parts of County Down to have Irish as a first language. And of course the United Irishmen famously very active in this area of County Down towards the end of the 18th century. A very strong Ulster-Scots influence in this part of the country as well, you can hear it in the Newtownards vernacular.

Classic Irish countryside, love the Ards Peninsula zen

Morning all, I hope you're all feeling better than me today.

I officially had many Drunk Dreamer moments last night, this was after I had made up my mind not to go out with my flat mate and his friends. 3/4 of a bottle of wine later though and I changed my mind. Not good. Feel proper Poopie today.

Just watching a re-run of yesterday's golf, hoping it makes me feel better.

While Nonu has had his problems this year I really think Munster should make the move for him.

Wow some choice language from Francis there, he describes cipriani, henson and powell as "talented w**kers". I don't usually read Francis column, because I think hes a one eyed idiot, but surely he can't say that can he?

About 5 miles off it was over open moorland with a lot drainage channels to jump over or not in some case. Started our descent at sunset.
