Cotto-Margarito II December 3rd
Finally! Its signed and Tony has been deemed fit by the Doctors. Essentially a pantomime villain, the much-maligned Margarito will face his old foe one more time.
How do people see this fight going? Who, at this stage of their careers has more left?

Margarito is a tough fight for anyone - ask Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather BLATANTLY ducked Margarito and fought Baldomir lol.
Miguel Cotto should take it.

Floyd Mayweather never ducks anyone thats something your fighter Cotto does, BLATANTLY ducked Martinez like he ducked the best at 140...Baldomir a lineal champ something Cotto never has been. Baldomir was the champ at 147 at the time not Margarito.
Margarito makes Cotto quit again, when the going gets tough Cotto goes running and quitting.

I've got to agree with Scott, i'll be rooting for Cotto all the way but i just think Margarito is all wrong for Miguel.

Sadly, I think the same - I say sadly because I want Cotto to win. I have the faintest glimmer of hope in my heart that Margarito has slightly less left than Cotto - but its a glimmer, no more.

Give it a rest, Margarito was hardly a big name opponent at that time.hitmansam wrote:Margarito is a tough fight for anyone - ask Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather BLATANTLY ducked Margarito and fought Baldomir lol.

Cotto by decision for me. Margarito has looked very ordinary since beating Cotto. Stoppage defeat to a equally washed up Moseley, a poor performance win against limited opposition in his 154 début before being routed by Manny. I expect the rematch to have less fireworks than the first fight with Miguel constantly on the move and not looking to get involved. Antonio for me does not have a lot left and he has not been the same fighter since the hand wraps were discovered.

If Margarito can still comfortably take Cottos best shots then the fight will be won and lost there, have never entertained the idea that Margs gloves were loaded in the first fight so don't see this fight going much differently at a weight that probably suits the bigger Margarito more.

Unfortunately I only see another win for that lowlife dog marg. He's too big and too durable for Cotto, his style is all wrong for Miguel. Marg late stoppage again.

Haha thats the only words i'd use for the gulf in class between Margarito and Baldomir as well sam, Margarito was twice the fighter Baldomir ever was

Cotto boxed his ears off in the first fight for the first 8 rounds, he will do it for longer this time. I must of been watching a different fight to the armchair observers who said Cotto quit though haha?..... I expect a brilliant shape Cotto as always, and fired up Cotto to destroy him in 10 rounds, battered on the ropes the referee will step in for the Plasterer.

I don't mean it in a disrespectful way but he did quit. He stopped trying to win, I think he even admitted he quit. But he had no more to give, it's not like he quit as soon as it got tough. He took a knee without being hit, signalling to me (and his corner) he wanted it stopped.

He never admitted he quit scott, if you think so that's fair enough but i know he never and he knows himself he never, because when he fought Jennings his friend from the camp pulled Buncy up about his claims about it

Re: Cotto-Margarito II December 3rd
I think it was the right decision, he wasn't going to win. There would be no point standing there to get knocked out, and I'm not about to call him a coward for not doing so. But check out the quotes:
"Tired of the accusations, Cotto conducted an interview on the andra pa’l cará show and clarified his position. Here is the translation (courtesy of maxboxing.com member beastineden) regarding the criticisms of him “quitting.”
Host: Ok, in your case as a boxer and champion I imagine that decision was very hard to make because you're thinking “I'm the champion with no losses,” was it you that made the decision or your corner?
Cotto: I was the one that made it, my family was there, my children were present and I was thinking more about them rather than the beating I was getting.

Re: Cotto-Margarito II December 3rd
Cotto wins the return on points. Absolute banker.
Look back to the second Cintron fight, and it seemed that the game had unearthed another of it's great punchers. Every punch seemed to hurt, and from either hand. Yet he's barely able to hurt Mosley or Pacquaio with a single punch.
Margarito can't win this fight. And his record should be erased from the history books.

Massive exaggeration. I've never seen him referred to as a puncher. He's a workrate/stamina/accumulation boxer.

Quite right scott and badly phrased on my part. Perhaps should have said on of the game's great accumulation punchers.

How many times have you ran out of gas and ideas against a world class boxer coming in for the finish. The genius of PBF wrote:Cotto will quit again, he has no heart.

Surely with no heart he would never become a boxer in the first place, or at least quit as soon as it got tough. Not pull out when there was almost certainly no way for him to win after already taking a lot of punishment.
