Manchester United Deny Reports Of Takeover
Manchester United have denied claims that a £1.6bn bid has been made for the club by buyers from the Middle East.
Reports have suggested owners the Glazer family are close to agreeing a deal to sell to a Qatari group.
But a United source told BBC Sport: "There has been no approach and one would not be welcome because the club is not for sale."
United's local rivals Manchester City were taken over in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour of the United Arab Emirates.
He has pumped more than £1bn into the club in his attempt to turn them into a leading force in world football.

this is a strange one.
Man Utd stating that 'an approach would not be welcomed'
If you bought a business for £750 and someone offered you £1.6b - 6 years later for the business would you accept it?
I dont think inflation has risen that much, or that the Glazer's have pumped that sort of cash into the club.
Businessmen like to make money, and that to me is an offer you cant refuse.

The rumours continue to gather ground, I seriously hope they turn into something.
As a Utd fan I would love the day club returns to being owned by a fan but this isn't just realistic in this modern day and age. To compete with the blue half of Manchester then unfortunately we have to do the same as them and become the plaything of oil tycoons.

I wonder if it will provoke the Red Knights into making one more attempt to buy the club!

I hope it does happen personally. But they need to be clever about it, pay off the debts and spend wisely from the operating revenue, not their own cash

could this be a good thing?
i am not so sure. As long as anybody who takes over doesnt take vast sums of money out of the club. With the new ffp rules we need to just spend what we earn and not have massive cash injetions.
