Tomic only made 8 UE in 3 sets vs Malisse so it's a little surprising how many he gifted Novak, maybe he's just thinking too much who he is playing..

Novak looking a bit like the old one, pre his amazing run.

If he wins this he will have to find his form because Federer is playing some sublime tennis although Tsonga has taken a set but I can't see him taking another.

I take the last part back - Tsonga has just broken Federers serve!

Feels so nice Nitb, Novak in the semis. Novak has done better or as well this year in every tournament he has entered when compared with last year. Tsonga is certainly going to be tough, but I don't know if Roger would have been an easier.

TBH Socal, I have a gut feeling NOle will make it to the final, he will need to put in a huge start, at the moment he is a difficult match-up for Tsonga, Tsonga hates to grind it against Nole, and if he starts silly like he often can, then Nole will run away with the match.

Plus, Nitb a lot of Tsonga's wins came against Novak when he was really struggling with his serve. I think novak will be playing for #1, has his serve back to where he wants it and will find a way to get it done against. TSonga.

I agree, Nole is a lot gritter than Federer and does not suit Tsonga. Nole will need to crack Tsonga'serve by 2nd set, start reading it, and then he's on his way.

Tomorrow is going to be BIG.

The entire Novak's family will be in the box, incl the girlfriend, PLUS the team.

If Nole beats Tsonga tomorrow, he is becoming number one, part one of the two-part Novak ultra dream.

Is it me or does Novak seem to be moving a bit slower? I thought in rallies against Tomic he looked a bit sluggish or was that Tomic taking Novak out of his comfort zone?

Tomic was very, very good.

Don't forget, Nole's tactics were not to give Tomic rhythm, hence, no usual bossing from the base line, he mixed-up a lot of variety in the first set which I liked sooo much, but Nole doesn't feel like he's in his own skin when he does it, dropped the plan a bit and Tomic pounced.

Nole needs to bring ALL the confidence he's got into tomorrow's match.

Tomic played well and Novak certainly looked in control, but like you say he didn't look comfortable not playing his natural game. It is good he is able to make that adjustment at such a late stage of a Grand Slam.

I think it will be a good match up. It is going to be power, speed and flashes of brilliance.

TBH, I don't look forward to it. Tsonga is very difficult for Nole, so it will be plenty of hiding behind the sofa for me, A good start will help Nole, he is much better defensively than Federer, so that will irk Tsonga and potentially cause more UEs.
One thing Tsonga's not good at: patience.

Nole will play with pressure but he will not be intimidated (even subconsciously) ike against Federer (too much past history), I know it will be very tight and great to watch, sadly I also know the crowd will cheer for Tsonga ( I mean, who does Nole need to play to have crowd behind him _ Stepanek !? )

If Novak takes the first set, he will win in straight sets I feel. I think if Tsonga goes behind he will try to hit his way out and I think that will play into Novaks hands.

I think he is burnt out after his great winning run but Tsonga runs very much hot & cold and maybe tomorrow it will be his cold turn.

I can't see Novak winning if he does get through to the final but the No.1 spot can still be his by beating Tsonga.

NOle has a notoriously horrible record when it comes to snatching the ranking....lost to Nadal in Hamburg (battle for number 2), lost to NIEMENEN (!!!!) (battle for number two from Federer) , then lost against Federer at RG....I can't remember if there were any other matches like those, but zilch out of three is not good.....I hope e's got those nerves out of his system during that last match against Federer....

Yes, maybe Fed should watch this and learn how you actually beat Tsonga and not come up with the boring excuse that he couldn't have done better...
