Novak is playing the best I have seen him play since the Rome final.

He is back into his Streak mode

Playing great Nitb, I think now he wins this match, has a good wimbeldon, and gains the #1 ranking it will relieve a lot of pressure for the rest of the season.

There is one scenario where I don't think that works at all which is if Djoko loses to Nadal in the Final.

He goes to No. 1 but he's there for only a month because Nadal's 500 Tokyo points kick in on 08.08.11 when the 0 for Nadal's Washington no-show last year is dropped.

Then Djoko has been No. 1 for just a month despite holding only one slam because he temporarily nudged the 3-slam holder Nadal off his perch because of a technical rankings rule.

That's the one outcome I don't want - I either want Djoko to win the final vs. Nadal or to lose it to Murray and in either event be No. 1 by a big margin.

Exactly, Barry, getting the big trophy on sunday is crucial to solidify his #1 ranking. Either way it is still momentous even if it lasts a month. The first time since 2003 that someone not named Fed or Nadal has been #1. It still a great accomplishment, but frankly I want Nadal in the final and I want Novak winning that Final to really put his mark on this season.

Yes - both Nadal and Federer took No. 1 for the first time on winning a slam and by so doing holding multiple slams. That's how to do it.
