Nice round these parts....
Aye, seems like this is the best idea to replace BBC 606 - i'll certainly be encouraging fellow 606 Golfers to join.
How about if you have joined just post here to (re-)introduce youself so everyone can see who's moved over... i'll be probably swinging both ways until the lights are turned off over there...

welcome aboard Rossa - good to see that you figured out how to post a thread!!!
Encourage as many as possible on 606 but I agree, I think we will see a big influx come May when 606 closes up.

Hi
Mclaren here, does look like a nice alternative to 606. We just have to make sure we can get as many users as possible signed up before the end.

Re: Nice round these parts....
Not a bad start so far, but think we should jump ship as soon as possible to save going backwards and forwards. We just need to make sure we tell everyone from the 606 list where we've gone.
Maybe someone who's involved on Twitter can let Lee et al know where we are
As we have no mods yet I just thought I'd like to say that the BBC mods are a bunch of tossers :oops
Anyway good to see everyone and lets hope for decent banter

I wonder how long before this site gets a tug from the BBC legal department for 'passing off' (Using the 606 banner) wouldn't put it past them

Yes I wondered that too. I think the site owners will get away with the name, but the logo is a little close to the mark

we actually approached the BBC mods about it.
We told them that we would put up a link to the BBC site if they could be reciprocal with their direction to here. They said that no decision had been made but they would let us know nearer the time.
To be honest, I think they are not that bothered at the moment - if it needs to change, so be it!

The way the beeb are at the moment reckon you may get away with it, aspecially if some of the mods were doing that part time while working for the world service etc. Seems to be a bit of a joke in broadcasting at the moment with reorganisations especially in Sky Sports 8)

Just finishing moving my self into the new '606 house'!!!
I've been quiet on the BBC 606 Boards for a month or so now, but more than happy to add my support to the new site.

Re: Nice round these parts....
by the way, I forgot to mention that on 606 I was Manchmal (I posted the initial invite)
thought i had better clear that up in case you thought a random moderator kept on poking there nose in!
As a matter of interest, how many regular posters were there on 606 golf?
I reckon 20 or so have already come over but how many more are likely?

Anyone told Kwini yet?
Lovely to see some 606 Golf Members on here. Hopefully gw, Meisce & Ned can join up for the wonderful Golf League & can continue on, on here?
Another member on 606 who is, if you don't mind me saying, leading the way contribution wise, is Kwini. If we can get Kwini's weekly articles on here, that would mean in my book, a proper step forward & help the credibility.
I read the Golf contributions most days, tho being a Snooker player who admires Golf, does just that, watch.

Re: Nice round these parts....
32 people entered the fantasy competition this week... given that there's 15 or so exempt from this week's round anyway, and another few guys who don't bother with it, you should be looking at 50 posters or so, at least. That's if everyone makes the move, mind...Hobo wrote:by the way, I forgot to mention that on 606 I was Manchmal (I posted the initial invite)

We have added a snooker board as well for you John
Try and get as many people from that board on 606 as well if possible
And yes, I did just add a thumbs up smillie
Re: Nice round these parts....
Good to see the usual suspect arriving here. Hopefully we'll get Kwini, Venice, Prince Drac and I'm sure plenty of others of the old regulars joining us soon.
I'm feeling a little bashful at being the first 606 golfer appointed as moderator here. I've no doubt some will have questions about that but with luck it won't stop them joining - we could do with a couple of other 606 golf regular being named as mods to so that those in any doubt have some consolation that I won't turn this into the Davie show. We could do with some more nominations. I have my own ideas of suitable people but I'll keep them to myself for now until we get some more candidates

If you are not, then PM me or one of the others. And secondly - is it working?

Have read the golf boards for a couple of years but never took the plunge. Didn't fancy getting left behind when 606 shut though.
Love (most of) the chat and discussion on the board and markedly different to most of the 606 boards as you can see a decent discussion take place amongst people who seem to know what they are on about and can disagree without falling out, at least too badly.
Look forward to hopefully joining in and adding something constructive.
Cheers

It is indeed nide round these parts ! never realy posted much on the old board, partly due to time, but mostly because of the draconian moderation - I mean what kind of incompetent, rule crazy nazis would stop you from using words like crap (or even CARP) whilst being incapable of putting a stop to the antics of even the most persistant of wums ? I don't expect (or even want) to be able to f & blind in every sentence, but I would like to be able to talk like an adult - anyway rant over, hope to make more of a contribution on here rather than just stopping by to read other peoples articles/posts

Absolutely not Doc - strive to maintain a handicap about 11 which is a struggle to play to on any consistent basis. Have always harboured ambitions of getting into single figures but pretty hard to find the time just now with 3 young kids!
Play when I can although no competitions apart from an annual jaunt with a dozen mates when prizes are up for grabs, although more bad than good trophies.
Look forward to joining in here, as I always felt I should contribute on the other board, given the amount of time I spent reading it
