Tactics
- Barbarian rugby, seemples. We will play hard but fair in the spirit of the BaaBaas. We are committed to attacking play and will be trying to run the ball from anywhere. We will kick for territory when we need to, we are not playing suicide rugby, but we are coming to play. Joost will be looking to dictate the tempo, getting to every breakdown quickly and keeping us going forward, be it with quick distribution or a sniping break.
Key Points
- Two awesome scrummaging props and a teak tough hooker means we will be strong in the set piece.
- From 4-8 our pack blends power and workrate in the tight with good loose skills which will suit the way we intend to play the game.
- The best 9 of all time will dictate the tempo, and it will be fast, with Dominguez the create to open Stevies Wonders up.
- The rapier (Gibson) and the broadsword (Gravell) is the dream combinations of styles in the midfield.
- In the back three we have two world cup winning wingers who combine try scoring with great defence, and the greatest full back of all time.
- Off the bench we have English steel to keep a grip on the game, gallic flair to open the opposition up, and the all time leading test try scorer to exploit any gaps that we create.
The offical club statement on the game made by head coach LDCPete reads;
"We are really looking forward to playing our inaugral fixture in the Legends League, to see so many quality players on a rugby field is absolutely unreal and the fans who turn out are hopefully in for a real treat. We are coming top lay, and give a good account of ourselves for the duration of the game and our stay in Auckland. The guys have enjoyed the week we have had here and their have been some sore heads on a couple of mornings as the social scene has been superb. We are confident of giving a good account of ourselves on the pitch and win lose or draw I look forward to a pie and a pint with Steven Sharks after what will hopefully a thoroughly entertaining game."

The offical club statement on the game made by head coach LDCPete reads;

No I said no tactics a while ago.
Im not very keen on tactics at all if im honest with you guys.
But if you want to include them I will let you, but I would only want two-four lines like what Steven has done.
So Pete you can scrap all of that and I will just list your tactics as you have underlined them seperate to your key points.

Yes.
Or you could start again and do it in better English with an extra line or so.

Bear
It's going to be quite dull just sticking 22 names down each week and nothing else. I'd like to actually talk about my side a bit, as like you have said on a number of occasions it is meant to be a bit of fun.

I have never been a keen admirer of tactics.
I don't want a lot of tactics like you have done Pete just not my thing.
But a paragraph like you have done where you have pointed it to tactics is ok.

My tactics are 4 lines Bear, it's hardly war and peace. If people don't want to do tactics then they don't have to do they, but for those that might want to write something about their team, what's the problem with that? It's no skin off anyone elses nose is it?

Nothing just on about the key points and your little statement that im not keen on, just way too much.
I would only want four-five lines maximum I said I was ok with that if you look back Pete.

16. Bulloch
17. Marconnet
18. Ackford
19. Charvis
20. Redpath
21. Ntamack
22. Paterson
Tactics - This team is built around a formidable set piece. The front row scrummage very well, but are also a very mobile and will get around the park. The lineout will be competed at every attempt with Johnson and Sharpe being masters of the area. Betsen will be on the rampage, closing Merhtens down, attempting to force him into a rushed kicking game.
The electric back three will look to counter attack any loose kicks. Farr-Jones, Lynagh, Horan and Little don't need to be told the tactics, they know each others' games inside out! All subs to be used, Charvis and Ntamack in particular will bring a big ball carrying impact to the last 30mins of the game.

Probably not, his hair takes up about 3 spaces! He will probably come on for Deano as well, so the bench will be more cramped afterwards!

20. Robert Jones
21. John Rutherford
22. Alan Bateman
Forwards: Dominate the scrum with a powerful front 5. The back 5 will look to snaffle ball and Brooke will pick from the back where possible.
Backs: Quick ball to our centres who are sued to playing together, Porta and Burke will pin them back with kicks and our wingers will look to use their pace on the outside and sometimes hit the space between the centres.
Attack: Forwards play until an overlap forms where the backs can do their magic.
Defence: Hard, taking no prisioners, 1st man tackles, 2nd man clears out 1st support runner, 3rd man over the ball.
Bench: Used as and when, full of quality and no one would want to prop against Popplewell when tired, Deans can shore up the lineout if failing and we have versatility in the backs!!

We have a serious front row that we will look to to give us impetous come scrum time, and with Kay leading our lineout we will look to gain an advantage in the set piece. Gregan and Larkham dictate the way we play. Once ball is secured by the forwards, we will look to our creative back line to get us into space. Blitz defence with Gregan sweeping behind. Every one of our subs is an impact player, and all we be brought on during the 2nd half.

Hayes anchored the actual country Ireland by attaching a large chain to his ankle and diving into the channel - this prevented it from drifting away in to the Atlantic and being lost forever - truly a hero
