kerry deserved it off the back of a fine first half performance. Took the sting out of cork by lying down for the entire second half very clever.

And after all that, the fella on the radio says they can't give a full commentary because of contractual issues with the GAA and RTE. So I'm relying on text. Last I heard it was Kilkenny 0-03 and Dublin 0-01.

huge hole at the back leaving henry all on his lonesome to blast in. 3-11 to 0-9.
dublin maybe not getting a free or 2 but they are getting eaten by the HB LINe. IT Looks to be back to that old effective platform

What can you day about Cork's performance today? Poopie pretty much sums it up. We got our kickouts all wrong and our forwards did ok with what little they got. Full credit to Kerry who took the game by the scruff of the neck and should that they are still force to be reckoned with. A big concern for us is the injuries Sheehan being the big one who seems to have done ligament damage. Without Colm O'Neil and Sheehan we look a bit short on alternative forward options. Cork lacked hunger today something I didn't think would happen this year. Hopefully this was the kick up the bum they needed.

cork seemed to be trying to stop kerry more than playing their own game which is good enough in its own right. kerry twice had long gaps without scoring which is worrying but when they scored it was effective. but there will be a rematch in croke park which will be intresting.
the result wont change much only difference kerry got a trophy and cork will have to play a decent team in the quarters for a change instead of weak connacht teams.

Kerry looked like the team with the class(as usual) but seem to lack the ability to put Cork away/.............
Cork were more like themselves in the second half but they lack the quality of player that Kerry have 3 or 4 of and this will prevent them being a truly great team that might prevent them winning 2 in a row.....................at present, Cork are way off the class that Tyrone had at their peak and that Kerry had at their peak in the 00's..............
this AI is between Kerry, Dubs, Cork, Kildare............................and not much between any of them.............

strange no one is really talking about derry looked good against armagh scored 3-14 playing good atacking football and likely to be the ulster champions in the quarters.

Cregan, the thing I see with Cork is we never deliver consistently. We have some good players who can produce on the day but we lack an outstanding player a Gooch,Shefflin(and as much as it pains me to say it) a Brogan If we play at our best we can beat anyone but that hasn't happened in a while (Tyrone in 09 was probably the closest we got to it)

the big bother now is with sheehan. I hope it isn't too bad.
Same position as before. It is a sore one, but nothing has changed. I don't think we were anything close to full tilt.

Well done the Saffrons 2nd/3rd string outfit on an 8 point win and a 10th (TENTH) consecutive Ulster Title. Now can the Ulster Council leave us alone and let us prepare for Limerick?

Another thing I don't like about Ulster Hurling Final day is the way you get a lot of Ulster Council people about Casement pretending to care about hurling. It's like their annual day out at the hurling! I much preferred Antrim v Westmeath and Antrim v Carlow in recent weeks where you had essentially the people who really cared about Ulster hurling in attendance.
Should we ban the Ulster Council from the Ulster Hurling Final? It could be like a new rule 21!?

most counties dont think much about ulster until there in bother in croke park kerry found out the hard way last year.
i think derry on the fact they seem more of a team unlike when paddy bradley was the main man but mc guinness likes the underdog tag and will motivate donegal like he did against us.

I think Donegal maybe for the Ulster Title in football. It'll be a close one though. It's good there's no Armagh or Tyrone for a change and we instead have a novel North-West final!

Re: Live Scores- 2-3/7/11 strawberries & cream .....me hole
Just back from Killarney and what a great weekend we had.
Today's game had it all but unfortunately we were just not good enough.
I would love to see Cork go out and try to play with the free flowing football that Kerry seem to do with ease.
Tony Davis said in an interview with Kieran Donaghy during the week that Cork pride themselves from learning form the way Kerry play.
Well I wish some of our players had cottoned on to that today, because for the the most we were second best all over the field.
The middle of the field was always going to be our strong point but it never materialised.
Hats off to Declan O Sullivan who I rate as one of the finest footballers I have ever seen playing and I think he is an inspiration to the rest of his team.Galvin and Tomas to come back into the fold as well.
I think it will take a monumental effort to beat Kerry this year in the Championship.
Maybe the qualifiers will set us in good stead as last year, but today was a battle too far and we were beaten by a very good Kerry team.
Hats off to Kerry and maybe we might meet in the final.
If anyone can do it Cork can.
Now wouldn't that be a belter.

Goulding's a very good player but I wouldn't have him in that top bracket of pplayers. He can be found wanting on the field sometimes. The player who is closest I would say is Paul Kerrigan. In what was an awful performance Kerrigan was one of Cork's best players.
Also am I the only one who was annoyed by Marty always calling Donaghy, "Star"? it was just annoying. We know he has a nickname Marty but you don't have to call him it all the time like.

And there goes Cody again having a go at the "pundits", while at the same time saying he hasn't looked at the press at all......................great to see Tommy Walsh back to his best......catching the ball in one hand while belting every dublin fella with the stick in the other hand!!

Rebel I was really surprised by Corks tactics. I thought Kerry would the team avoiding the kick-outs to the middle of the field but instead it was Cork. These short kick-outs are just stupid. They tried to work the ball 40 yds from their own goal and were continuously under pressure. Losing possession and going nowhere. However Kerry played very well in the first half with some beautiful movement and fine scores. Declan O Sullivan was really impressive in his runs. Were Cork over-trained or did they believe the hype surrounding them since last Sept. Your management team have been out-thought yet again. Conor Counihan has to take the blame for this. But some consolation for Conor yesterday is that his hero Brian Carthy got the Kilkenny/Dublin Gig on the radio. I am sure this will please him.

Yes I heard that. Something about his lunch breaks not being long enough. The three Amigos (Harte,Counihan & Cody) were fuming that he only got an hour as they thought two hours would be more appropriate for a man of his talents.

Re: Live Scores- 2-3/7/11 strawberries & cream .....me hole
yeah, the kickout strategy was bizarre. Keeping the ball away from the area where we should win ball. Moving Aidan Walsh to CF??? Starting Jamie O'Sullivan proved a bad idea. It would have been fine had Kerry set up as we thought, but they didn't and it was immediately apparent that they hadn't, so leaving him on any man other than O'Leary was a bit naive.
We could have weathered the period where Kerry were dominant a bit better. Leaving mountains to be climbed all the time will catch up to you some time or another. Just lucky it was yesterday when there is another shot at it. It was never going to be a disaster to lose. It was never going to be a disaster to lose by the width of a post but it mattered at the time, and it matters now. If you don't get it right, you get beat. I'd love to say lesson learned but it probably isn't.

I agree. If Cork had kicked to the middle of the field in the first half ye probably would have won it. It would not have been a disaster for Kerry to have lost either (even if that home record was broken) as it would have allowed players like O Sé, Galvin etc to play their way back in rather than coming fairly cold into a quarer final. Remember Down last year! I think once the euphoria has passed Kerry people will have mixed blessings in not having a couple of more games before Croker.

I suppose the positive side for Cork fans is that despite playing Poopie were it not for the post we could have drawn the amtch. The worrying thing is injuries and how we failed to change our gameplan when it clearly wasn't working. We have a few extra games to work out the kinks and hopfully find our best 15.

You're right John, it is only one extra game. It is a sure sign that the provincial system is dead as the team that loses probably has an advantage.

Following a scan today, it has been confirmed that Cork footballer Ciarán Sheehan suffered a torn cruciate ligament in the Munster Final defeat to Kerry on July 3rd.
The news comes as a huge disappointment to the Cork team and management, and of course to Ciarán and his club.
All in Cork GAA wish him well in his recovery
