Anthems tommorow?
No doubt if they do Haye will have the English anthem 'God save the Queen' played
What about Wlad will he have the Ukrainian anthem played or the German one (either other one will be booed and drowned out though)
Regards

God save the Queen is the British anthem, not English.

So why do England use it for football and rugby then?

It's seen by most as the English anthem, most Welsh and Scots would probably disregard it anyway

Because there is no officially recognised English anthem. I think they sing Jerusalem or Land of Hope & Glory or something like that at the Commonwealth Games.

Thats because the Welsh have 'Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau' (kinda funny really having WLAD in the name) and the Scots have 'Flower of Scotland'

Sorry Steffan, do try to avoid the welsh stereotype humour as I'm better than that (just) but is my last day at work for a week so am just trying to do anything other than work to make the day pass.

Do they even have anthems at boxing matches? Surely the fighters are representing themselves, not their nations.

On the subject of songs, Steffan, are we still singing from the same hymn book regarding our little agreement ?

Ofcourse Windy. Check out my posts on here nothing pro or anti anything. I think prehaps if you discuss anthems it can lead that way but it was not my intention
A genuine question though if Wlad does have an anthem played tommorow will it the Ukrainian one, the German one, or even both?

Re: Anthems tommorow?
Normally it's the Ukraine one, which doubtless irritates the Germans beyond belief.

Whatever anthem plays i expect it to be a good 20 mins after the fighters start entering, before the fight starts.

I really hope British fans do not disgrace us AGAIN tonight by booing the national anthem of the opponent.

I think it could get quite loud in there tonight, i'm not expecting anyone to be nearly as well behaved as the Germans are at a boxing match.
