Re: International cricket captain.
Yeah I have played them for the last few years mate, I love it!!
Hate it when a quality young player averaging 60+ for your county side ends up being called up for international duty though
Also, how rare is it that you get a quality young fast bowler? They usually get tonked around the park and take no wickets!

Re: International cricket captain.
Normal or easy mode mate?
Normal mode can be pretty tough to get the captaincy after the 1st season, takes a lot of tactical field adjustments etc.
I'm usually my home county, Warwickshire, and can always never wait for the end of the 1st season so that I can get some decent overseas in :P

Re: International cricket captain.
Congrats mate, I got offered it at the end of the 2nd season in my most recent game on normal mode.
Just got England up to Test number 1 ranking though, and currently 2nd in ODI's on normal mode.
I love getting Sachin in as overseas, guaranteed runs
Any players you find to be particularly good? How over-rated is Phil Hughes on there, the man is a machine!

Re: International cricket captain.
Do you play about with your field much, in terms of creating custom fields?
Re: International cricket captain.
I haven't played since 2005's version, but man that game is addictive. I still go back to it every now and then.
I always loved the start of the season and the bidding rounds for overseas players too Fists. I'd always try and get the best spinner around and take a bucket load of wickets with them!

Re: International cricket captain.
I'm on the version with Monty on the front can't remember the year (2009?) and I tend to go through fazes of addictivement with it, but I haven't played it for a few months now.
I know what you mean every team seems to score about 80/90, except when I play them! It's the only form of the game I can't seem to win atGregers wrote:Im still playing ICC2009. Its awesome altho the t20 in it sucks

Re: International cricket captain.
Thats the 09 version Marshall. And yeah, the game doesnt recognise that in t20 the players must be very aggressive.
As England I have won the 50 over world cup 5 times in a row!

Re: International cricket captain.
Yeah T20 is tough, the earlier versions had nowhere near enough sixes in them, but that has been improved slightly now, though I'd still like to see more.
I sometimes play about with the field, but how much of an effect it actually has I'm not so sure. The batsmen just don't seem to hit the ball in the air in some places.
My one gripe with the game is with the highlights. You know that the highlight is going to show a wicket as when you hit 'next over' or the space bar, it goes to the highlight really quick if there is a wicket coming up. It is subtle, but noticeable. Also, with lbw's, it makes a certain sound if it is out, and I hate that, as I'd rather be able to wait and see whether the umpire raised his finger! Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: International cricket captain.
The limited range of dismissals annoys me a bit, although I actually find it the other way round, if a wicket is to fall the game seems to pause for a few seconds extra

Re: International cricket captain.
Yeah if there is one thing they need to work on it is the dismissals.
Re: International cricket captain.
yh defintiely lol... they need to be more creative with it lol

Re: International cricket captain.
Yeah, whilst I understand that it is a low budget game, I think it is something that could really take off if the right funding was applied to improving graphics, commentary and adding more variation to the games.
On a side note, I would love a boxing manager game, as far as I know there isn't one of any acceptable standard currently on the market?

Ravi bopara has suffered his f/c average has dropped to 34 on my essex game

Re: International cricket captain.
love the game i generally go as Somerset being where i live and all, however i always generally have to have my overseas player as an all rounder or a quickie as somerset's pace attack is poor, Watson costing £100,000+
Buttler also isn't rated on the game
I quite often turn down england captaincy as i like to focus on my county, i usually seem to get relegated in the first season of the CC (due to my pace attack) then get promoted again and by then i usually have a good seam attack to go for the title.
now starting a new file haha

Re: International cricket captain.
Haha, I'm definitely gonna have a blast later, new season with Warwickshire!
With seamers you need 3 good ones to prepare seamers pitches I find. This can be quite a task, so it is often easier to invest in one top notch spinner, and then involve a younger spinner or spinner all rounder and prepare a turning pitch.

Re: International cricket captain.
think i have a glitch with my game, signed Tendulkar as an overseas player as it said he was available for the whole season, then he got picked for IPL as well as an india tour half way through the season

Re: International cricket captain.
Didn't have the best start to my new Warwickshire season. Drew the 1st 2 games (the 1st one i needed 9 to win but ran out of overs ) then narrowly lost the 3rd. Seem to start off bowling well, then the number 7 or 8 goes and gets a ton!
Re: International cricket captain.
i have relieved james foster of the captaincy, and given it to matt walker, would have given it to ravi, but his form has dipped and i having to drop him

Re: International cricket captain.
My batting has been fine, Ian Bell started the season with scores of 174, 108*, 39, 124 - so the England call up is coming soon no doubt!
I'm just struggling to bowl teams out for less than 350.

Re: International cricket captain.

dunno why i just don't like captaining England with a county, suppose its because while i'm with england i can't control the county as well properly.

Re: International cricket captain.
Haha nice one Sainty, any tips needed feel free to ask. It is quite a simple game but bloody addictive!
I'm not having the best of times with my current Warwick squad, very poor batting lineup and not much venom in the bowling unit. Need to get to the end of the season and hope they give me a decent budget, though I can't see it if I don't win anything!

Re: International cricket captain.
Suppose the benefit of being national coach is you could leave your key county players out of the squads
Re: International cricket captain.
I bought 2010 off Amazon for 7 quid brand new, quite a steal really!

You might be ok on easy difficulty with them, but on normal, prepare for annihilation
