Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
Ok the boys have been busy in the lab and built me a dream heavyweight...
...I'm willing to pit him against any fighter out there.
Boxing Brain - Ali
Tongue - Ali
Chin - V Klitschko (Never been sparked)
Heart - Holyfield (Ive run some tests and apparently its fine)
Lungs - Frazier (Despite the Smokin' they've got plenty of miles left in them)
Right Hand - Marciano (Suzie Q)
Left Hand - Holmes (Jab)
Legs/Feet - Ali (Shuffle)
My question is...do I have the 'Ultimate' heavyweight creation on my hands....?

Brain - Ali
Tongue - Ali
Chin - Chuvalo (I was thinking possibly Ali again though/ Vit has a good shout due to that uppercut!)
Heart - I think there's a lot that could be picked here, Frasier or Ali for me though.
Lungs - Ali
This is starting to seem pretty poor....
Right Hand - agree with you for Marciano
Left Hand (jab) - possibly Liston.
Footwork - Ali undoubtedly.
I think mines looks a bit like Ali!!

We can always look into a chin transplant.. but I dont think I've ever seen Vitali in any trouble even when shipping that massive upper cut from Lewis.

I think it's impossible to create a dream heavyweight without using a decent amount of Ali... it's like beer, you can always have a bit more.

Re: Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
That uppercut is a beast of a punch to have taken without even looking in trouble after it, but at the same time, since then, who is there in the division that really we can say tested it to the same level? Ali took blows from Foreman and Frasier, I don't think Liston really caught him well so I can't comment.
Chuvalo has some set of whiskers though, but the other 2 surely have a great shout for chin. I sometimes think Ali's chin is overlooked.

You make a good point, with Chuvalo taking shots from Ali, Foreman and Frazier and never going down has to get him the Chin spot.
I wonder what state he's in these days?!

A little scout on Wikipedia appears to suggest he's fine! Strange how it happens really, Jake LaMotta is another one who always surprises me for how good his health is considering the punishment he took.

Chuvalo suffered a badly broken arm back in the 80s...

I didnt realise he'd had that many fights and never touched down!
Thats some achievement and I'd be honoured to have his chin for the boxing monster.

Re: Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
Yeah, so he has to win the chin category with honourable mentions going to Ali and Vitali for me. I'm wondering if I was correct in picking Liston's jab over Holmes...unsure.

Re: Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
The chin of Chuvalo, the speed and reflexes of Ali, the two-fistedness of Dempsey, the stamina of Jeffries, the heart of Marciano, the defence of Tunney, the knockout power of Foreman and the jab of Holmes.
Now there's a Heavyweight who would, in the words of ol' John L. Sullivan, "lick any S.O.B in the house."

Boxing Brain - Ali
Tongue - Ali
Chin - Mccall
Heart - Frazier
Lungs - Jeffries. Gotta go back along way for the real cardio machines
Right Hand - Marciano (Suzie Q)
Left Hand - Liston. He could put you down with the jab or the hook.
Legs/Feet - Vitali...hehehe, ALI!

He's had a heck of a life, has Chuvalo. Lost several family members to drugs and suicides. Now tours schools talking about the dangers of drug use. I take my hat off to him.

As much as I agree with most of the lists here, it's funny to see no Joe Louis for any category - I guess you'd have to have him being top quality in most of those departments without being the top pick

Like you say, probably a case of being brilliant but not the best in every one. Just fantastically well rounded.

Stick 'the technical punching ability of Louis' on to my list above, a grave oversight by me!

What about being schooled by a Light Heavyweight, got to be near top in that one?Boxtthis wrote:As much as I agree with most of the lists here, it's funny to see no Joe Louis for any category - I guess you'd have to have him being top quality in most of those departments without being the top pick
Or inability to hit a speed ball.

Re: Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
Louis is surely a contender for the right hand? Marciano's power is hard to overlook, but when you consider the range of punches Louis had off the right hand (and his own considerable power) he looks like a solid option.

Re: Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
for me the list is pretty much spot on, except, i would pick marciano over frazier for lungs. the best pick is holmes for left hand as usually when building fantasy boxers most people choose both a left and right hand as a power punch, but then they would have a non existent jab.

If finishing off an opponent was there as a category - he would be number 1 for sure.

Re: Build Your Ultimate Heavyweight
Ok, so Ive had the old boy back on the slab...and based on what we've discussed... Ive now got this beast ready for a shot at the title....
Boxing Brain - Ali
Tongue - Ali
Chin - Chuvalo
Heart - Holyfield
Lungs - Jeffries
Right Hand - Marciano (Suzie Q)
Left Hand - Holmes (Jab)
Legs/Feet - Ali
Killer instinct - Tyson
Name - Dynamite Sprouts
Honourable mention goes to Joe Louis who, if we were using the Alternative voting system, would be many peoples second choice for a number of catergories.
We can use him for spare parts.
