Thrill a Minute XI
Pick an entertainers' Test XI from the players who have played cricket in the last 10 years. But they should be good proper Test match players. So T20 specialists like Pollard are disqualified. So remember pick an XI which entertains you but they must be proper Test Class Players and not just T20 sloggers
This is my XI.
Sehwag
Gayle
Trezza
Tendulkar
Lara
KP
Gilly(wk)
Warne
Steyn
Bond
SiJo/Anderson

Good thread, can't disagree to much about your team. Wasim Akram has played in the last 10 years though so I would have him in instead of Jones/Anderson.
Re: Thrill a Minute XI
Liam this thread was about performances in the last 10 years.Akram was well past his peak then.

Maybe add Andre Nel into the bowling attack? He was a decent bowler at his best and of course there was always the chance for him to go mental which always was enjoyable to watch!

A thrill a minute xi without Brett Lee?
Whilst he wasn't in the same class as McGrath or Gillespie, there's all ways something thrilling about a guy tearing in bowling 150-155kph.
All the hostility with the ball, but done with a smile on his face.
a true gentleman.

Re: Thrill a Minute XI
I find a swing bowler swinging the ball round corners more entertaining than sheer pace.Thats why i went for Steyn,Bond and Anderson/SiJo who were/are much better at swinging the ball.Lee could swing it but not quite as good as the ones i have picked IMO.But I can understand why you have picked Lee.
You like raw pace.
I prefer swing.
Fair enough

Re: Thrill a Minute XI
In all fairness Brett could swing the ball pretty well, just unluckily for him McGrath and Gillespie where just better than him - so he had to bowl 1st change.
Bond for my mind, at his very best, had the pace and swing. He was usually around 150kph!!!

Hmmm true, would go with Bret Lee instead then.
Re: Thrill a Minute XI
He didn't play many Tests, but Shahid Afridi was all ways worth the admission.

Re: Thrill a Minute XI
This is no doubt a contentious opinion, but I wouldn't have Tendulkar in there. As much as I appreciate that he's capable of fireworks to match the best, I just think he's too elegant a batsman to be described as thrill-a-minute."
To me, "thrilling" players are those who can only play attackingly - you always know something's going to happen, one way or the other. Sachin's versatility and completeness as a player means that he doesn't fit here, even if he's as capable of "thrilling" play as anyone else.

He could also smash the ball out of the park! A great hitter down the order!

The first name that I would have penned down here would be that of Shoaib Akhtar.

Don't think I can agree with that at all. Shoaib had pace, he could rattle the very best like Tendulkar, and he was unpredictable. He could get smashed around all day, but all of a sudden come up with something absolutely special.

We aren't going to agree and I don't really acknowledge Pakistani players.msp83 wrote:LeBron's Homie wrote:He was a show pony, not really thrill a minute.msp83 wrote:The first name that I would have penned down here would be that of Shoaib Akhtar.

But Shoaib, as good as he was for a very short period, ruined his repuation with silly incidents, and therefore I don't like the guy.
Compare him to Lee, Shoaib was better, but Lee a gentleman and will all ways be remembered.
