Minute Silence.
I hope the people who chose to disrespect the minute silence for Mervyn Davies anf Jock Hobbs were kicked out of the stadium.

Re: Minute Silence.
It was a fairly awkward state of affairs, trying to start an applause ala Gary Speed which was quickly shut down. From there though the random chanting and shouting was quite embarrassing.

The clapping had nothing to do with the idiots.

Re: Minute Silence.
Londontiger,
You did mean at the MS, didn't you (I confess I didn't see the start of the game there)? My heart sank when I saw your OP because I wondered if you meant at HQ where I thought the minute's silence had been observed appropriately by all just before the Ireland game. Any moron who broke the silence is beneath contempt and clearly knows nothing about rugby. Both traits are unforgivable.
Mervyn Davies traumatised many of my childhood rugby memories in the nicest possible way. RIP, big man.

Even footy fans are capable of observing a minute's silence appropriately. I'll never understand it.

Re: Minute Silence.
I was not at the stadium so I'm not in a position to know if the minutes silence was clearly explained in French ?
I doubt very much that anybody of sound mind would have deliberately tried to sabotage the show of respect for these two former greats who sadly passed away.
We should not focus on one or two individuals when the vast majority behaved to the highest order.

Please stop trolling on such a sensitive subject. Unless you were sat next to him/her there is no way anybody could tell what nationality they were.

Re: Minute Silence.
It was probably a small minority of Welsh fans who generally do this kind of thing. Most are pretty much ok.

Re: Minute Silence.
Why am I stooping low? I refuse to acknowledge which game I am talking about - and at least one game had "electronic silence".
My point stands, whoever behaved like that should have been kicked out.

Keep the posts sensible lads, it is bad enough that individuals in the crowd were disrespectful. Also there is no way of knowing the nationality of the offenders, so let us not start assuming we know who it was.

And thankfully it's only a small minority that would sink so low that they would use something like this to try and bait people.

Ok, I apologise, but it was pretty obvious where it was coming from.biltongbek wrote:SafeAsMilk wrote:It was probably a small minority of Welsh fans who generally do this kind of thing. Most are pretty much ok.

Do you have any evidence of this ? or is it something you have created in your own mind.
You have sunk pretty low by using this to try and bait people.

Re: Minute Silence.
Cymro, give the man credit he apologised, Safeas, an apology is only credible when you give a full apology, it isn't obvious. If there are 70 000 spectators in a stadium and 10 000 of them are non welsh, the odds that it was someone else is great enough to not assume it was Welsh.

I'm not baiting anyone. Just basing it on my own ears. Re: Minute Silence.
I was in the stadium, and I can categorically state that it was a combination of a group of young french men in the far corner about 20 rows from me, they made the initial calls, and as a few young welshmen came up the tunnel near me they were the second set of calls.
There was no way of knowing if the French guys knew what was going on but they had to, they had called out 30 seconds in, and the plonkers coming from the bar mustve known too. I will say the welsh boys took real barrage of abuse as they sang into the stadium, sadly I think that added to the noise.
The clapping was a bit awkward though...

Re: Minute Silence.
Maybe it is best just to say those who interupted the minute's silence were fools, regardless of which colour of shirt they were wearing today. It should not reflect on the real fans of either team.

Re: Minute Silence.
I remember there being a fair amount of noise during the minute silence for Bradley Davies' mother against France a while back. Never been so angry and frustrated during a rugby match as far as I can remember.

Re: Minute Silence.
has to be said that there was a failed applause at Twickers too and most certainly some shouting, I still have it on My SKY and it is certainly there although I have to say my ears are not able to tell you what set of fans!! (SAM may have Karl Pilkington organs I fear).
Still looks like a thread created by a poster from neither nation to spoil the true nature of yesterday.

For the record I was there and agree with the above.
The stadium announcer did explain in French - with a welsh accent
Still, no need for the OP simply trying yet again to label a nation.
